TerraCycle Update ♻️🌱

Pets Domain has partnered with Royal Canin and TerraCycle for several years, helping pet owners recycle their pet food packaging and reduce their environmental impact.

Since 2021, Royal Canin’s partnership with TerraCycle has diverted 1.7 million pieces of packaging from landfill across Australia and New Zealand.

Royal Canin is now transitioning to a new large-scale national recycling scheme that supports its long-term sustainability commitments and enables a recycling program that can expand to more locations. As a result, the Royal Canin x TerraCycle program will be coming to an end and will no longer accept pet food packaging from 1 November 2026.

Thank you to everyone who has recycled at Pets Domain through the Royal Canin x TerraCycle program and helped keep plastic out of landfill. Every bag makes a difference!

We’re excited to see Royal Canin support the launch of this new recycling program in Australia and look forward to exploring how we can continue to be involved.

Affectionately known as ‘Berners,’ Bernese Mountain Dogs are good-natured, affectionate and loyal companions, easily recognised by their smiling expression and beautiful tri-coloured coat.

Bernese Mountain Dogs are excellent family dogs, with their patient, gentle temperament, goofy personality and protective instincts.

Originally used by farmers in the Swiss Alps, Berners still retain their muscular build and strength to this day. They almost went extinct in the mid-1800s, but the efforts of dedicated individuals helped to reverse the decline and revive the breed.

Due to their thick double coats, Berners require daily brushing and regular grooming. They also need vigorous daily exercise of at least thirty minutes to keep them healthy and happy. They make great companions on walks and outdoor adventures, although their thick coat means they are susceptible to heatstroke and must be kept cool.

Part of the charm of Berners is that they mature slowly, meaning the puppy years last a little longer. They are also quite soft emotionally and can be easily hurt, so when training, it’s important to use positive reinforcement rather than harsh scolding.

These delightful dogs make wonderful companions for families and individuals, thriving in loving homes. If you have a Berner, we’d love to meet them! Feel free to share a photo in the comments.

Our Road to Rescue Challenge with SavourLife is already having a huge impact on animals from rural pounds.

Thanks to your support, pets like Fanta can have a second chance 💙

We're so excited to see the impact that our Road to Rescue Challenge with Pets Domain is having on animals from rural or regional pounds 🧡

Fanta from Stray to Stay was one of the first pups transported to safety as a result of our challenge. Thanks to an initial donation made by SavourLife and Pets Domain, they were able to transport Fanta from Bamaga to Cairns for emergency vet care after she was bitten by another dog and obtained a fracture to her face.

This ‘Freedom Ride Ticket’ helped save Fanta’s life as infection was impacting her breathing significantly.

So, what is a ‘Freedom Ride Ticket’?
A Freedom Ride Ticket represents the funding required to transport one rescue pet from rural or regional pounds into the safety of a rescue group.
Each ticket helps to cover the transport costs that give a dog or cat the opportunity for a second chance.
1 Freedom Ride Ticket = 1 rescue pet transported to safety 🐾 ✈️
