Trialing new feeders for our babies.
We normally use the red and white ones and hang them from the top of the cage however the babies still manage to waste so much food, then we’ve had the bottom fall off…. Multiple times.
I made some from PVC and am loving them so far, so much less wastage and easy to fill.

Could I have taken more aesthetically pleasing photos…. Probably 😂 However I’m too excited with this pretty little chocolate mottle girl!
She is a couple of years in the making and has made hearing my hubby complain about “too many brown chooks” completely worth it

Tonight’s topic 🙂 Fertile eggs 🐣🥚

There’s often a misconception that fertile chicken eggs should cost the same as ordinary eating eggs — but producing quality fertile eggs involves a lot more time, care and expense than simply collecting eggs from a backyard flock.

Behind every fertile egg is a huge amount of work. Our breeding birds need to be carefully selected, housed and managed to produce healthy, fertile offspring.
This includes:
- Quality breeding stock and maintaining suitable breeding pairs
- High-quality feed and supplements to keep breeding birds in top condition
- Clean, safe and suitable housing
- Daily cleaning, care and maintenance
- Collecting, checking and carefully storing eggs
- Packaging eggs securely so they arrive safely
- Monitoring the health, condition and wellbeing of the breeding flock
- Years of knowledge, experience and careful breeding decisions
- And, of course, the time spent caring for the birds every single day — including weekends and holidays!

When you purchase a fertile egg, you aren't simply paying for an egg. You are supporting the breeding program, the care of the birds and the many hours that go into producing that egg.

Fertility is also never something a breeder can guarantee 100%. Many factors can affect fertility and hatchability, including the age and condition of the breeding birds, weather, storage, transport and incubation.

We put a great deal of love, time and care into our breeding birds because our goal isn't just to produce eggs — it's to produce healthy, well-bred chicks that represent the quality we strive for.

So please remember when comparing prices: a fertile egg is the beginning of a breeding program, not simply an egg.

Thank you for supporting small breeders and the time, care and dedication that goes into producing quality fertile eggs. 🐥❤️
