๐พ Mammary Tumours in Entire Female Dogs ๐พ
Did you know that female dogs who are not desexed are at a much higher risk of developing mammary tumours (breast cancer)? Approximately 50% of mammary tumours in dogs are malignant, which means they can spread to other parts of the body - we most commonly see it spreading to the lungs.
If you have an entire bitch early detection is key - regular checks of her mammary chain is very important. If you notice any lumps along your dog's mammary chain, book a consult as soon as possible. The removal of small tumours, before they have spread is much better for the bitch. We unfortunately see many very extensive mammary tumours too late.
Pictured here a few mammary tumours we have removed in the last fortnight.
