Good thing thing the Gwydir Team are used to random dogs showing up and “helping” at home 😆

Highlight of the weekend when a little pug dog ran on the course to help Tony Overton work his sheep - right in front of the crowd 😂😂😂

A bit of fun at the West Wylong Yard Dog trial travelling and competing with the open dogs.

I had a different travelling companion this time with Michael Clarke joining us with his dogs for the trip south. Lots of great conversations and dog talk went on for the 8 hour trip.

I also had the pleasure of judging the novice yard trial where there were some super young dogs coming through.

Thanks to the committee for having us and to for not only keeping my dogs in tip top shape with high quality feed but for their ongoing sponsorship with trialling.

Looking forward to a few weeks away with the whole team of dogs travelling to the Australian Utility Championships and visiting a few friends and dog masters along the way.

See you somewhere out there

What an exciting weekend for the Europambela crew at the Boonah Working Stock Dog Club Queensland State Championships! 🐾🏆

Tony, Sandy and Mandy Carlon had an incredible weekend, with 7 dogs between them making it to the Top 15 in the State.

Tony came away with the Queensland State Championship Title with his favourite female, Gwydir Zeva. Tony also finished 2nd with Braziers Bonnie, while Mandy Carlon placed 3rd with Ballydine Abby.

In the Open, Mandy managed to pip Tony off the perch, taking out the win with Ballydine Abby, with Tony finishing in 2nd and 4th.

The New England crew didn’t stop there, keeping the streak going in the Novice. Michael Clarke and Slug came out on top, followed closely by Sandy Carlon and Ballydine Heidi in 2nd, with Mandy placing 3rd and 4th with Ballydine Sunny and Ballydine Hank respectively.

Tony also had some fun in the Maiden with the young dog Insight Lux, who continues to go from strength to strength, running an impressive 99 in the first round. This young dog has a very exciting future ahead. Fellow New Englander Margo Hogan also had a great time in the Maiden coming away with 2nd and 5th.

It sounds like the weekly Tuesday night dog training sessions are paying off — not always easy when it’s dark and only 8 degrees outside! ❄️🐕

Feel free to join us if you're keen to get some practice in on trained sheep here at Europambela 5:30pm Tuesdays. Contact Tony for more details if your interested.

A big thank you to the Boonah Working Stock Dog Club, the judges, sponsors, sheep donors, and everyone who helped out in the yards over the weekend.

The Gwydir Kelpie team are absolutely firing on dog food, with plenty of energy, a beautiful shine, and quick recovery after their runs. They are looking and feeling fantastic!

Now we look forward to the Australian Utility Championships in Nyngan later this month. 🐕🔥
