Meet Frankie! 🐾

This tiny little Italian Greyhound came in for his vaccination and was quite possibly the cutest little patient we’ve had in our hands! 🥹

Frankie was so teeny, he practically fit in the palm of our hands. 🥰

Safe to say, we were all a little bit obsessed! 💚

Bird flu is making headlines, so Better Homes & Gardens asked Greencross Vets what it means for our pets.

Greencross Vets veterinarian Dr Nina shares practical advice to help pet parents understand the risks and take simple precautions.

“Bird flu can infect all mammals, so dogs, cats, rabbits and ferrets can all be infected.”

From avoiding contact with sick or dead wildlife to keeping cats indoors and dogs on a leash around wildlife, a few simple steps can help reduce exposure.

Read Dr Nina’s advice and the full Better Homes & Gardens article at:

🖤 A majestic visitor who never should have needed a trip to the vet.

This beautiful black swan was found with a fishing hook stuck in its mouth - a painful and completely preventable injury caused by discarded fishing gear.

Removing the hook required a general anaesthetic, along with pain relief to keep this feathered patient comfortable while we treated them. 🦢

A reminder to all anglers: please take your fishing line, hooks and tackle home with you or use a designated disposal bin. The Victorian Fisheries Authority advises that old fishing line should be placed in bins, or if there are no bins available, taken home, cut up and disposed of in general waste. Their Seal the Loop program also provides dedicated bins for unwanted fishing line, hooks, netting and rope. (VFA)

Discarded fishing gear can cause entanglement, injury and even death to wildlife. A few extra seconds to dispose of your gear properly can make a huge difference. 💔

🎣 Fish responsibly. Dispose responsibly. Protect our wildlife. A big thanks for the wildlife careers for bringing this amazing swan in and thanks to our team for helping 🫶🏼

Meet Stuart, the new Veterinary Director at Upper Coomera!

Originally from Scotland, Stuart made the move to Australia in 2022 and has been part of the Greencross family for the past two years. He’s recently relocated from the Sunshine Coast to the Gold Coast with his fiancé Candice and their much-loved cat, Inky.

Stuart graduated from the University of Edinburgh in 2017 and has a real passion for the variety that general practice brings — from rewarding medical cases to hands-on surgery.

When he’s not caring for your pets, you’ll likely find him exploring local national parks or checking out the Gold Coast’s golf scene (Topgolf is already on the list ⛳).

Stuart is excited to meet you and your wonderful pets and looks forward to welcoming you into the clinic soon!

Meet Pavlo!
This beautiful 5 month old Devon Rex melted our nurses hearts when he was presented for desexing. He received plenty of cuddles and kisses and was even purring before, during and after his IV catheter placement! 😍

Did you know we have a separate cat consult and cat ward? This is to ensure our feline friends can stay happy and stress free during their stay.

* Intestinal foreign body obstruction in a dog*
Thor, a 2 year-old Labrador presented to our clinic with a history of acute onset of vomiting and lethargy.
He had vomited several times in the previous 12 hours and since became very flat. When examined he showed signs of dehydration, was sore on the abdomen and the vet could feel a mass in his intestines. When further investigated by doing X-rays we found that Thor had a foreign material obstructing his intestine which required emergency surgery. Our vets acted quickly by taking him to surgery where the obstruction was found and removed from the small intestine.

The foreign material were two pairs of underpants Thor would have eaten a few days prior! He has since made a full recovery and his family is so relieved all ended well.
Foreign bodies in the gastrointestinal tract can be life-threatening and commonly cause vomiting. Young dogs, Labradors in particular, are prone to this as they are usually not selective as to what they eat!
