The attached 𝗙𝗮𝗰𝘁 𝗦𝗵𝗲𝗲𝘁 will be distributed to locals next week to advise the details surrounding restoration work within Hotham Creek.

Improved outcomes for properties impacted by erosion will result from stabilisation work to make Hotham Creek more resilient. Work will commence later this year, to be jointly funded by the State and Federal Governments under the Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements of the Riverine Protection Program.

After many site visits over the last couple of years, my thanks goes to the other levels of Government for supporting this important restoration work.

The SportsBox lockers are now available at Viney Park Coomera, offering community members the chance to borrow sports equipment including basketballs, soccer balls and more — completely free.

Simply download the SportsBox app https://sportsbox.app/, select their gear, and start playing. Please support and make this a permanent feature at local parks across the city.

Viney Park in Division 3 will be the site for a new State Government trial initiative - Sportbox - a self-service equipment hire system designed to make sport more accessible to everyone.

Users will have free access to a range of sporting equipment on demand—simply borrow, play, return and repeat. The upgraded Viney Park is an ideal location for the trial and I hope everyone will support the guidelines, enjoy the opportunity and make this a permanent feature at local parks.

City of Gold Coast strategic planners are conducting one-on-one sessions to discuss the proposed Local Growth Management Strategy (LGMS) and what it means for the area.

The City of Gold Coast is updating its 𝗙𝗹𝘆𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗙𝗼𝘅 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝗠𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗻𝘁 to keep it modern and in line with best practice.
Flying foxes are protected native wildlife, so management must follow strict State guidelines—and relocation isn’t a standard option.

𝗢𝗨𝗥 𝗥𝗘𝗡𝗢𝗩𝗔𝗧𝗘𝗗 𝗟𝗜𝗕𝗥𝗔𝗥𝗬
The newly refreshed Upper Coomera Library space is spectacular. Good to today to visit and also great to meet Artist in Residence, Yoshie Hughes. Yoshie runs oil painting classes every Thursday at the Centre and produces the most amazing works of art. If you’re a budding artist, classes are held every Thursday between 2pm and 4pm. Thanks also to Melinda and Stephen from Gold Coast Libraries for the tour. If you haven’t called by the library yet, now’s the perfect time. The new layout is fantastic and we are the only library trialling “smart returns”. Simply return your book to the space, as per the first photograph.

𝗝𝗮𝗰𝗼𝗯𝘀 𝗖𝗼𝘂𝗿𝘁 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗲 𝗣𝗹𝗮𝘆𝗴𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱 𝗨𝗽𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗱𝗲 – 𝗨𝗽𝗽𝗲𝗿 𝗖𝗼𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗿𝗮
Work is scheduled to begin today, Monday 8 June to replace the old 4-way rocker and provide a new slide module with play panels and steppers. The existing swings will remain.

The playground will be closed until approximately Saturday 11 July.

99 years young - so happy to be invited to share Lucie’s 99th Birthday celebration today at The Lunch Project, Upper Coomera Centre. I can only imagine the changes Lucie’s seen in our area and it’s great that she’s still smiling! Thanks to all for welcoming me this morning.

DRAINAGE ISSUES
3 on site meetings today re drainage issues. One through a park, one abutting Genesis Estate and another between an under construction development site and a sloping block of privately owned land. Thanks to all officers who assisted today - particularly Michael, Nathan, Jason and Glenn. Thanks to residents too for their patience while the matters are further considered.
