Our very own Dr Jess & Dr Sarah headed to Melbourne today to take part in an in-person dentistry wet lab as part of their ongoing professional development.

The training included a comprehensive theory component followed by hands-on practical experience, allowing participants to develop their dental skills in a supported learning environment.

We’re incredibly proud to provide opportunities like this as part of our new graduate onboarding and training program. Not only does it help build confidence and clinical skills, but it also gives our vets the chance to connect and network with other graduate veterinarians from Tasmania and across Australia.

If your pet is due for a dental check-up or could benefit from a brighter, healthier smile, you’ll be able to book with Dr Jess & Dr Sarah when they return—or with any of our fantastic clinical team.

We’re looking forward to welcoming them back and seeing them put their new skills into practice!

🌟🐾 Meet Our New Graduate Vets! 🐾🌟
We’re excited to introduce one of the newest members of our Burnie Veterinary Centre team—our talented new graduate veterinarian, Sarah! 🎓🩺

"I am a small animal veterinarian excited to start my career serving the Devonport and Burnie community! I was born and raised in Perth, Western Australia, and developed my love for animals from a young age through spending time on my grandparents’ sheep farm in Albany.

I graduated with a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Murdoch University and absolutely loved my time there. My main interest is in small animal medicine, and I am passionate about providing compassionate, high-quality care to my patients.

Outside of work, I am very much looking forward to exploring Tasmania’s beautiful northern coastline, discovering new hikes, and experiencing the incredible wildlife the region has to offer!"

🌟🐾 Meet Our New Graduate Vets! 🐾🌟

We’re excited to introduce one of the newest members of our Burnie Veterinary Centre team—our talented new graduate veterinarian, Jess! 🎓🩺

"I’m a small animal veterinarian, looking forward to working on the beautiful northern coast of Tasmania. I’m originally from Melbourne and moved to sunny Perth to study a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree at Murdoch University.

I knew I wanted to become a veterinarian from a young age, having grown up with a menagerie of dogs, cats, rabbits, guinea pigs and chickens, who I loved to care for and learn more about. I have developed an interest in small animal medicine, wildlife, and conservation.

I am passionate about providing excellent care to my patients. I’m looking forward to developing meaningful and supportive client and pet relationships.

I also love hiking, reading, and spending time at the beach in my spare time. I’m excited to explore the beautiful nature Tasmania has to offer!"

☀️🐾 Keep Your Pets Safe This Summer – Protect Them from Fleas & Ticks! 🐾☀️

Summer is here, and with it comes the increased risk of fleas, ticks, and other parasites. These little pests can cause big problems for your pets—and your home—so it’s important to keep them protected. 🐶 🐱

Here’s why flea & tick prevention is so important:
· 🦠 Health risks: Fleas and ticks aren’t just annoying—they can cause serious health problems like skin infections, anemia, and even diseases like Lyme disease.
· 🐾 Comfort: Constant itching from flea bites or the pain of a tick can make your pet miserable. Preventing these pests helps keep your pet happy and comfortable.
· 💡 Easy prevention: Preventing fleas and ticks is far easier (and cheaper) than treating an infestation. Regular protection can save you a lot of stress and vet visits down the road.
· 🏠 Protect your home: Fleas can easily spread throughout your house, creating an ongoing battle. Keeping your pet protected helps prevent an infestation in your home.

At Burnie Veterinary Centre, we have a range of safe, effective treatments to keep your pet flea- and tick-free. From spot-on treatments to oral tablets, we’ll help you find the best option for your pet’s needs.

This summer, let’s make sure your pets stay healthy, happy, and free from pests!
