Have you ever seen your cat pick up food, tilt their head and drop it right back out?

While dog owners often look out for heavy tartar or bad breath, feline dental pain works a little differently.

One of the most common issues we diagnose in cats is Tooth Resorption (called FORL or Feline Odontoclastic Resorptive Lesion).
This happens when the body starts breaking down the tooth structure from the inside out, exposing sensitive nerve endings.

Cats are absolute masters at hiding pain and will often keep eating even when a tooth is incredibly sore.

Aside from dropping food, subtle signs can include:
🐾Chewing on only one side of the mouth
🐾 Chattering their jaw after eating or drinking cold water
🐾 Sudden preference for soft wet food over biscuits
🐾 Head shaking or pawing at the mouth
A gentle dental check during a routine consultation helps us catch these hidden sore spots early so your cat can get back to eating comfortably.

A gesture that truly touched our hearts 🧁💐

We want to extend a deeply heartfelt thank you to one of our incredible clients for surprising our team with this stunning cupcake bouquet.

What makes this gesture even more profound is that it came from a family who recently said goodbye to their cherished pet.

To be thought of during such a heartbreaking time means more to our team than words can say.

We are constantly blown away by the thoughtfulness and creativity of our amazing clients who bring in so many sweet and savoury treats for our team, but to be remembered and cared for during a time of personal loss is something we will never forget.

My dog's vaccine lasts 3 years now, so I can skip the vet visit this year... right?

Not quite!

Based on current scientific evidence, core vaccines protecting against parvovirus, distemper and hepatitis now provide longer lasting protection and generally only need to be given every 3 years for adult dogs.

However, a 12-month gap in your dog's life is equivalent to 6–7 years for a human.

So with this scientific research in mind, we have updated our adult dog vaccination schedule at Forth Valley Vet Clinic.

While core vaccination timing has changed, your dog still requires an annual check up for their yearly Canine Cough protection and a comprehensive head to tail health assessment.
We can also support these visits with our new in house Titre testing to check your dog's vaccination antibody levels and tailor their individual care.

Meet Floppsy, a sweet 3 year old English Lop rabbit who recently visited us for some dental work.

🐾 Did you know that rabbit teeth never stop growing?
Unlike cats and dogs, a rabbit's teeth are constantly erupting throughout their lifetime.

To help keep their teeth worn down naturally and prevent sharp edges from developing, rabbits rely on a high fibre diet consisting mainly of fresh hay and grass.

Even with the best diet, regular veterinary checks are an essential part of rabbit care to monitor their teeth and help keep them comfortable and properly aligned. 🐰

Remember the sweet 2 and a half year old Kelpie, Daisy, who stopped by for her pregnancy X-rays last week? 🐾

We have some very exciting news to share...

THE PUPPIES HAVE ARRIVED!!

Earlier this week, Daisy welcomed 6 beautiful little puppies into the world.

While it was a very special moment, it came with a touch of sadness as 1 of her sweet puppies was sadly stillborn.
However, we are so happy to report that the remaining 5 little bundles of joy are doing amazingly well, nursing, sleeping and growing stronger every single day!

Daisy has stepped into her new role effortlessly and is proving to be the absolute sweetest, most devoted mum to her new little pack.

A huge thank you to everyone who dropped their guesses in our previous post!

And an extra special congratulations and thank you to Daisy's family on the arrival of these beautiful puppies and for sharing an update with us all.

We can't wait to meet the puppies when they come in for their first vet check and vaccinations. 💛
