Here are some common spring dangers that have our furry friends visiting the vet clinic this season!

🧽If you're getting some Spring cleaning done - make sure you move those toxic chemicals far out of the reach of cheeky dogs and curious cats!
🌼Take the time to check the toxicity of any plants indoors or in reach of your pets outside. Even the best-behaved pet can have a nibble of a potential toxic plant.
💊 The warm weather brings parasites like fleas out in full force. Ensure your pet is up to date on their preventative products to avoid a household infestation!
🪤 Even 'pet safe' pest baits can be fatal at high doses. Never put bait down in areas where your pet can reach.

Keep these dangers in mind and if you're ever worried your pet has been exposed to something dangerous or toxic, give our friendly team a call! 📱

Myth Buster Monday!
We all grew up hearing the myth that if you touch a baby bird, the mother will then reject it - this is actually false!😲

Mother birds are actually extremely attentive and protective parents and care about their babies deeply 💞

If you ever see a baby bird in danger such as by a busy road then it's safe to pick the baby up and move it to a nearby tree or shrub. Baby will then call out to Mum and/or Dad to deliver their lunch to their new location! 🐤

Throwback Thursday ⏪
Meet the AdelaideVet team before AdelaideVet! 📸

Head Nurse Caity has always been a huge animal lover, and she's carried that fiery passion for gold standard animal care through her lead nursing at our Prospect clinic🔥

Think you’ve got the steady hands of a vet nurse? 👀
It’s harder than it looks… especially when the pressure is ON 😂

🐾 Meet Jerry! 🐾

Jerry came into our Trinity Gardens location for a nail trim with Vet Nurses Kasey and Mackenzie. Safe to say, we were all completely smitten with how handsome he is! 😍

While he was here, Jerry fell in love with the view from our cat consult room. 👀 He looked so majestic sitting there, taking in the view, that the team couldn’t resist snapping a quick photo!

Just look at that handsome face! 💕🐾

When you put a clinical team together… somehow, it becomes a sitcom. Meet some of the people behind the scrubs, the teamwork, and the questionable amount of caffeine.

A double factor pied lorikeet is a rare color mutation of the rainbow lorikeet 🦜

They're characterized by random patches of yellow or white plumage 🪶

This is caused by inheriting two copies of the recessive pied gene 🧬

The Prospect team got to get a close-up inspection of this genetic mutation when this gorgeous baby was brought into the clinic. 🥰

☎️ 'My outdoor cat has a sore lump that appeared very suddenly!'
☎️ 'My cat came home this morning and may have broken their leg!'
☎️ 'I think my cat may have been stung by a bee in the garden - their paw is all swollen!'

Cat fight abscesses are caused when a cat's teeth or claw punctures another cat's skin, trapping dirty bacteria within. Causing a localised, and very painful, infection which can lead to limping, oozing wounds and overall, a very sick feeling kitty! 🤒

Outdoor cats are at highest risk for getting cat fight abscesses so the best way to avoid them is to keep your cat safe indoors and if you ever notice a swelling on your cat - have it investigated as soon as possible as immediate intervention lessens the chances for a complicated recovery! 🥰

Clocked in vs. clocked out with Dr Jess 🐾🐴

When she’s clocked in, Dr Jess is doing what she loves most — being a vet and caring for our patients! 💙🐶🐱

But when she clocks out, it’s time for her other passions to take over…

🐴 Riding her horses and spending time at the stables
🐕 Competing in dog sports with her Weimaraners
🏆 Chasing the next competition and always looking for a new challenge
🐾 Basically, spending as much of her free time as possible with her animals

Safe to say, animals aren’t just Dr Jess’s job — they’re a huge part of her life! 😂💙

We’re very lucky to have someone so passionate about what they do both inside and outside the clinic. 🐾
