Hen Rescue 24/10/26 – Sunshine Coast & Gympie, QLD ‼️Adopters needed‼️

This will be our last Hen Rescue in this region for 2026. So, if you’ve been wanting to adopt and make a meaningful difference this year, don’t wait any longer. ⏳

An egg farmer has over 300 hens to surrender. Without rescue, they’ll be culled. 💔

Why? Because they’re no longer laying at peak production.

We don’t want to leave a single hen behind. But we need your help. We can only rescue as many hens as we have adopters ready to open their hearts and homes to them.

Could you be the reason a hen gets a second chance? 🤝❤️

Collect your adopted hens from either location:

📍 Gympie, QLD: 8:00 am – 9:00 am
📍 Woombye, QLD: 8:00 am – 9:30 am

Follow the steps below to apply:

📩 Message us or submit an adoption inquiry here: https://shorturl.at/THfQg
✏️ Complete a quick application form
🧡 Make a small adoption donation upon approval
🤎 Receive a care guide and pre- and post-adoption support
📅 Collect your hens from either location on 24/10/26

Can't adopt? You can still help by sharing this post or tagging someone who needs a rescued hen in their life.

Gosh, it’s been a while since I’ve posted! 😬

Today we let the cows and Zeb into the house yard and they absolutely LOVE the change of scenery. It’s pretty beautiful sitting on the deck, watching them wander around and enjoy themselves ☀️🌿

We definitely don’t extend the same invitation to our 2 adult goats 🐐 Brian & George, or our 3 pigs 🐷 Lotti, Hazel & Sunni… because apparently “house yard privileges” mean destroying the gardens, jumping on our cars and choosing absolute chaos 🌪️😂

In this video you can see…

🐮 Bart & Ralphy
Our 2 big steers — Bart (orange & white) and Ralphy (black) — who were TTCCH foster fails from The Simpsons crew last year. ❤️

🐑 Zebby 🖤
Another TTCCH foster fail. He has the most beautiful nature and is such a character 🤡

🐮 Milo, Hamish & Andy 🧡
Our TTCCH foster babies who are currently up for adoption. These boys are now completely weaned from milk 🍼 and absolutely thriving.

🐐 Bruno & Buddy 🤎
These little guys have had a pretty rough start and are a little behind with their feeding because of all their awful tummy troubles.

They’re still having 4 bottles 🍼 a day, but after around 2 weeks with no issues 🥳 we’ll soon start gradually dropping those back. They’re also eating hay and grain and drinking water from a bowl — only a little, but we’re getting there!

We’ve also bought them a very large second-hand timber dog kennel 🏠 and this week we’ll start transitioning them to sleeping outside on the deck in their own dedicated, safe little baby-goat area.

They’ve recently had their first vaccination 💉 which means they can start adventuring a little further from the house, but they’re still a bit too little for us to feel comfortable having them sleep in the paddock pens. We have wild dogs in our area, so for now we’d much rather keep them close and safe.

When they’re big enough to make the move to the paddock, their kennel will move with them — so hopefully having their familiar little house and bed will make that next transition a bit easier too 🛌🏠🍃

We also managed to escape the chaos and head to K’gari for a camping holiday last week 🏕️🌊☀️ Leaving this many animals (and two baby goats with a history of trying to die 🙄😂) was mildly terrifying, but we were SO lucky to have the most incredible farm sitters hold down the fort. They handled bottles, feeds, poo, chaos and our animals like absolute champions 🏆🐮🐐🐷🐑 and gave us the rare chance to switch off knowing everyone at home was safe, happy and very loved. We seriously couldn’t have done it without them! ❤️

So that’s the latest from our slightly chaotic little farm… lots of growing, thriving, foster failing and, thankfully, two little goats finally giving us a break from the drama! 😮‍💨

Today’s 🐐 attempt at trying to die….

Escaped to the shed 😳

Found the fishing rods 🎣
(that were out because we’re taking them camping next week)

Tried to eat the lure 🦐

Thankfully the hook 🪝 went through his lip which means he didn’t swallow it.

Matt was able to cut the hook, slip it out of Bruno’s lip, no blood, no harm and Bruno wasn’t phased at all 🤦‍♀️ 🙄

It’s been a very slippery slide since Buddy, Bruno & Oscar 🐐 arrived and, despite seemingly trying to find different ways to die in what feels like an everyday drama, Buddy & Bruno are doing okay. ❤️

Earlier this week, we came very, very close to losing our gorgeous little Buddy. 💔

He was rushed to a local vet 🏥 where he was placed on oxygen and given IV fluids until he was stable enough to make the 🚘 trip to our rural/large animal vet in Kenilworth.

Since then, Buddy has had lots of bloods and faecal tests, more fluids, an ultrasound and is receiving ongoing treatment while we try to work out exactly what is going on and keep our little man heading in the right direction.

These farm animal babies go downhill SO incredibly fast, and to be honest, it’s a constant worry trying to understand what’s going on — and whether their behaviour is just them being goats, or another attempt to send us into a complete panic. 🤦‍♀️

Buddy, Bruno & Oscar have been, by far, our hardest rescues to date.

But oh, the learnings, the lessons and the love they have brought with them. ❤️

As hard as the hard days have been — and there have been plenty — loving these little guys makes every single one of them worth it.

We lost our beautiful Oscar along the way, but he taught us so much in his short little life, and we carry those lessons with us every day as we continue fighting for Buddy & Bruno. ❤️

Little Oscar 🐐 arrived home yesterday, 1 week after he passed away 💛 Time has eased the pain but seeing his little hoof print bought tears.

I received a lovely message from a friend “… sometimes the animals that come to us are like butterflies. They have short lives but are not worth any less, in any measure.” 🥹 🦋

Rest easy little Oscar ☀️

Sending our love to our friends Parky’s Park Hobby Farm ♥️

I’d like to think Ralph and Oscar have found each other, and that they’re together now — free from pain, with no more sore tummies or struggling. Just two beautiful little boys jumping, skipping and playing together like baby goats should 🐐

You were both so incredibly loved in your short little lives. Rest easy, beautiful boys ♥️

Our sweet little Oscar 🤎 passed away this morning 😔

We are devastated 💔 but we know we did everything possible, he was just too precious for this world.

Oscar loved giving kisses as much as he loved receiving them 😘 he was such a sweetheart and he passed knowing that he mattered and that he was deeply loved ♥️ and adored.

Oscar will be cremated and stay at the farm forever 🕊️
