With 51 years of Simmental breeding behind them, Springside Simmentals brings generations of experience to this year’s Ray White Rural Barcaldine Bull Sale.
Today, Springside runs around 120 breeders plus their up-and-coming females, with a strong focus on developing predictable maternal cow families. Fertility, maternal ability, quiet temperament and structural integrity are all priorities, building a dependable female base that consistently passes those qualities through to the next generation.
That maternal strength is a big part of the Springside program. Their home-bred sire Springside Dragin produced exceptional females and bulls, with his influence still evident throughout the herd today.

Each bull heading to Barcaldine is sired by an exceptional Simmental sire, but Springside believes it’s the strength behind them on the maternal side that really sets the draft apart.
While each offers his own genetic package, the draft has been selected around the qualities Springside has spent more than five decades breeding for - strength, reliability, structural soundness and performance.
With both families tracing their cattle and sheep breeding roots back to the 1780s, there’s plenty of history behind the Springside name and a clear focus on continuing to breed practical, productive cattle for the future.
