Luci our Champagne sweetheart (moggie) came into our lives thirteen years ago adopted from the RSPCA as a companion to her highly active adopted brother Stanley (the Ocicat) of the exact same age to the day.
She was selected out of about a dozen other kittens in the enclosure because she was happily entertaining herself under a chair with a toy dangling under it both Jimi and I were drawn to her she was super cute and fuzzy not quite ginger…..champagne.
Not a show stopper like her brother but a real snuggle puss once she understood laps were good for sitting on. She put up with the teasing and sometimes bullying of Stanley and learned to stand up for herself sometimes batting with a left then right hook, a right little hurricane to the tornado.
It was decided that both cats would be indoor cats due to Stanley being more exploratory than Luci, we even tried to let Luci spend time outside on her own only to be chastised and bullied when she came inside by the the spotted jealous one, so no outside life for either.
Except for maybe a couple of times they had supervised times outside then Luci would rush to the first tuft of grass by the door and nibble it with joy.
With so many dogs walking through our front door she never hesitated to let them know they were in her house and cats rule here!
We tried to protect her so many times by removing her from the “dog zone” but she would place herself back there within minutes usually at a height to remain in control of her realm.
She lived a healthy life with only a couple of UTI’s and seniors stress at about 10 to which she took her meds like a champion then passed out on the couch for a bit like a stoner, purring like a well tuned sports car. Then she would wake up and cruise about all chilled out and cuddly.
She turned 13 last November and went for her vet senior checkup with bloods, to discover she was in the early stages of renal failure with a heart murmur
She had been on a slow decline since.
