We recently had this adult echidna brought to us for treatment after an encounter with a dog.🐶

Luckily, he was not seriously injured and just needed a few days of R&R before being released back into his home.🌳

You may notice the “raspberry” bubbles blowing around his nose. Because echidnas cannot pant, lick, or sweat like other animals, this is actually a technique they use to keep themselves cool!😎

May 23rd 2026 is World Turtle Day 🐢

Turtles are among the oldest creatures on Earth. Their ancestors roamed the planet alongside dinosaurs for over 45 million years and successfully survived the asteroid impact that wiped the dinosaurs out.☄️

Prehistoric oceans were home to the Archelon, the largest sea turtle to ever exist. It lived during the Cretaceous period, grew up to 4.5 meters in length, and weighed up to 3,500 kg. 🦖🦕

With over 350 species living on every continent except Antarctica, they possess fascinating survival traits, from holding their breath for hours to having a shell that is actually part of their skeleton.🌏
