Yesterday was my last day seeing my little co-pilot Maggie.
Don't worry, nothing bad or upsetting (we never post that content as believe it's up to owners to choose that path).

It's a sad one, though, as Mags has been with me for 5 years and predominately 5 days a week.

With that much time together, it's tough not to feel like she's 1 of my own.

Anyone who knows me understands I'm not human child focused, but when it comes to doggies and pets, that's when my maternal side naturally kicks in 😅

Anyway, I'm trying to convince myself not to be sad.

Mags is heading to NZ with her Mum for their next stage in life.

I'm super happy that Mags will be getting very spoilt by the grandparents and will have so much time surrounded by family.

New places to explore and lots of exciting sniff spots are just around the corner to keep you entertained.

After feeling run out from our usual stomping grounds due to the high influx of inexperienced, dog walking companies (who do not put the dogs health, safety and well-being first by any means)!

It was nice to temporarily reclaim some of our old haunts.

The time came last Sunday when we had to say goodbye to our gorgeous girl Aiko.

It wasn't meant to be that soon but we watched and listened to you and had to honour what you needed.

The truth is that I don't actually know Melbourne without you.

Moved here May 2012, started working at Lort Smith In June and was your foster carer by August as you were dumped with a broken leg at only 3 months old and the owners wanted you euthanised.

I couldn't give you back as I was scared you wouldn't get the life you needed being such a sensitive soul with such a crappy start to life.
I officially became a 'foster fail' 😅

We were lucky we met Mish at Lort Smith and our little family of 2, soon became a family of 3.
We liked to tell Mish she got a special deal '2 for the price of 1' at the shelter.

You always had a wiggly tail for everyone you met and insisted on sniffing everyone's shoes/feet due to your foot fe**sh.

You loved all the brain training you did with Mish and it was fun watching your little special brain navigate all the tasks with lots of rewards.

It was your lasting legacy that you sent Mish on a journey of behaviour and discovery and now she is a qualified force/fear free trainer.

She's helping so many other doggies and their owners on their journeys with the most gentle, humane methods and techniques.

I know you were old and I can't believe you made it to almost 13.5 with all your ailments but the waves of grief have blindsided me.

I'm retraining my mornings and arvos as it was all so wrapped up in your routines of meals, meds, walks and hangs.

I hate that you don't come and greet me anymore when I walk through the door, waiting to go for your walk but have peace knowing it was your time.

We took you away for 1 last long weekend and you ensured I got very sick forcing us all to just sit and be and cuddle on the couch with no time apart for what became your last few days with us.

You loved our new sun drenched apartment and your old bones were constantly warmed as you lay on every single soft furnishing watching the sky and letting the sun filter in and bathe you.
