One moment Zak was happily running at the park. The next, his family were rushing him to emergency.
When Zak spotted something interesting at outside of the dog park, he ran onto the road and was struck by a car. Thankfully, despite the frightening accident, he ran home, and was brought straight to NEVS for emergency care.
Zak was scared, sore, and limping badly on his front leg. His family were understandably distraught not knowing how badly he had been injured.
Although Zak was bright when he arrived, we know that pets involved in road accidents can have serious injuries that aren't immediately obvious. He received pain relief, was closely monitored throughout the day, and had X-rays of his chest and shoulder to check for fractures and internal injuries.
Thankfully, Zak had escaped with no broken bones or significant chest injuries. After some rest, pain relief, and plenty of cuddles from our team, he was comfortable enough to head home with his very relieved family.
Moments like these remind us how quickly an ordinary day can change. If your pet is ever hit by a car - even if they seem okay, it's important to have them examined by a veterinarian as soon as possible.
We're so happy this story had a happy ending. Wishing you a smooth recovery, Zak! ๐
Emergencies don't wait for business hours. If your dog is injured after hours, you can count on the team at NEVS to be here when you need us most.
