๐ŸŒฟ A Very Sleepy Dave... ๐ŸŒฟ๐Ÿพ

Meet Dave, an adorable little Pomeranian who gave everyone quite a fright.
After spending the day out and about, Dave suddenly became wobbly, confused and very sleepy. A search of the area uncovered the remains of a ma*****na joint that had been dropped from the balcony from a neighbouring apartment. Curious little Dave had helped himself!

He spent the night at NEVS receiving supportive care, lots of TLC and close monitoring. By the next morning, he was bright, happy, and ready to head home to his relieved family. ๐Ÿ’™

One thing we love about Dave's story is that he's owned by a local veterinarian. When vets' own pets need emergency care after hours, they trust NEVS to look after them, just as we do for pets from more than 40 local veterinary practices across the Northern Beaches and North Shore.

Ma*****na can cause serious illness in dogs, so if you think your pet has eaten cannabis or any other toxin, don't wait. Contact your veterinarian or an emergency veterinary hospital straight away.

We're so pleased Dave made a full recovery. Stay out of trouble, little mate! ๐Ÿถ๐Ÿ’š

What a pawsome day at Street Paws Festival Balgowlah! ๐Ÿพ๐Ÿ’š

A big thank you to everyone who came along and joined us at Street Paws Festival. We loved meeting so many gorgeous dogs, chatting with their humans, and being part of such a fun day for our local pet community.

Swipe through for just a few of the very good dogs we met on the day. ๐Ÿ“ธ๐Ÿถ

Thank you to Street Paws Festival, everyone involved in making the event possible, and of course, all the pups who brought their best smiles, wagging tails, and personalities.

We hope you had as much fun as we did. See you at the next one!

NEVS is here for overnight and emergency care whenever your pet needs it.

When Remus needed emergency surgery to remove painful bladder stones, his local veterinary team Asquith Veterinary Hospital got him the treatment he needed. Once his operation was complete, our NEVS animal ambulance brought him safely to our hospital for overnight monitoring and recovery.

While his family could rest knowing he was in good hands, Remus spent the night warm, comfortable and pain-free, tucked up in a cosy bed with round-the-clock nursing care, continuous pain relief, and dedicated emergency veterinarians keeping a close eye on him.

Working together with our member veterinary clinics means pets like Remus can receive seamless care from the moment they become unwell, through surgery, overnight hospitalisation, and back to their regular vet for follow-up. It's all about ensuring local pets have access to high-quality emergency and critical care whenever they need it.

We're happy to report Remus was bright, comfortable, and on the road to recovery after his overnight stay.

At NEVS, we're proud to support our local veterinary community by providing after-hours emergency, intensive care and overnight hospitalisation, so pets can receive care 365 days a year. โค๏ธ๐Ÿพ

๐Ÿพ Please give a huge round of applause (and pats) for Ruby, our newest blood donor hero! ๐Ÿพ

This gorgeous Vizsla has just made her very first blood donation, and she was an absolute champion from start to finish. Donations like Ruby's can be the difference between life and death for pets in critical need, and we couldn't be more grateful.

As a thank you, Ruby's family received a $100 voucher as a small token of appreciation for such a generous gift.

Welcome to the donor program, Ruby. You're officially one of our VIPs (Very Important Pooches)! โค๏ธ๐Ÿถ

A special shout out to Scruffy's Doggy Daycare who have been incredible supporters of our blood donor program. They've helped introduce suitable donor dogs, connect us with their wonderful owners, and make the whole process easy. It's a fantastic example of a local business that's truly community-minded and passionate about helping dogs beyond the daycare gates. Thank you for helping us save lives! โค๏ธ

Interested in finding out if your dog could become a life-saving blood donor too?

Healthy, calm dogs aged 1 to 7 years, weighing over 25 kg, may be eligible to join our donor program and help save the lives of other local pets.

If you think your dog might be a suitable blood donor, we'd love to hear from you.

One moment Zak was happily running at the park. The next, his family were rushing him to emergency.

When Zak spotted something interesting at outside of the dog park, he ran onto the road and was struck by a car. Thankfully, despite the frightening accident, he ran home, and was brought straight to NEVS for emergency care.

Zak was scared, sore, and limping badly on his front leg. His family were understandably distraught not knowing how badly he had been injured.

Although Zak was bright when he arrived, we know that pets involved in road accidents can have serious injuries that aren't immediately obvious. He received pain relief, was closely monitored throughout the day, and had X-rays of his chest and shoulder to check for fractures and internal injuries.
Thankfully, Zak had escaped with no broken bones or significant chest injuries. After some rest, pain relief, and plenty of cuddles from our team, he was comfortable enough to head home with his very relieved family.
Moments like these remind us how quickly an ordinary day can change. If your pet is ever hit by a car - even if they seem okay, it's important to have them examined by a veterinarian as soon as possible.

We're so happy this story had a happy ending. Wishing you a smooth recovery, Zak! ๐Ÿ’™

Emergencies don't wait for business hours. If your dog is injured after hours, you can count on the team at NEVS to be here when you need us most.
