Sometimes, the bravest little ones face the biggest challenges. 🐾

A kitten recently came to us needing a leg amputation β€” a procedure that, while difficult to hear about, gave this tiny life a real chance at a healthy, happy future.

It's never easy when a pet needs surgery, especially one so young. But with the right care and a compassionate team, recovery is absolutely possible. Kittens are remarkably resilient, and three-legged cats go on to live full, joyful lives every day.

Here are a few things to know if your pet ever faces a similar situation:

🐱 Early intervention can make all the difference.
βœ… Post-surgical care and pain management are key to a smooth recovery.
πŸ’› Your emotional support matters just as much as medical care during healing.

We understand how stressful it can be to navigate a serious diagnosis for your furry family member. You are not alone β€” and asking questions is always encouraged.

Have you ever seen a sphynx cat before?

Sphynx cats are known for their warm, suede-like skin and incredibly affectionate personalities. While they may look different from other cats, they share the same need for love, care, and regular health checkups.

did you know....
As they don't have the same hair as an average domestic cat, they naturally maintain a much higher body temperature to keep them warm - often feeling "hot" to the touch!

The first hairless kitten was born to a domestic cat due to a genetic mutation, and over the next 30 years, the breed was developed into what we know today as the sphynx breed.

Their lack of fur makes them wonderful companions for many people, and their social nature means they often seek out human connection more than other cat breeds.

We recently had the privilage of seeing this Whistling Kite at Temora Vet!

Did you know the whistling kite is one of Australia's most adaptable birds of prey? πŸ¦…

These remarkable hunters get their name from their distinctive call - a clear, musical whistle that echoes across open landscapes. They're incredibly versatile, feeding on everything from small mammals and fish to carrion and even insects.

What makes them truly special is their adaptability. Unlike many raptors, whistling kites thrive in diverse environments - from wetlands to woodlands, and even urban areas. They're excellent parents too, with both males and females sharing nest-building and chick-rearing duties.

These raptors can live up to 20 years in the wild and can have a wingspan reaching 1.45 meters. females are significantly larger than males, weighing up to 1kg compared to the male 750g.

Meet "Whiskey", an absolute superstar patient!

last week Whiskey came in for a desexing procedure and was diagnosed with cryptorchidism. This condition means one or both testicles haven't descended properly into the sc***um.

We want you to know that cryptorchidism is treatable. The undescended testicle should be surgically removed because it has a higher risk of becoming cancerous and won't produce healthy s***m.

Our team will guide you through every step of the process. We'll explain the procedure clearly and answer all your questions. Your cat's comfort and health are our top priorities.

Early detection and treatment lead to the best outcomes. Most cats recover quickly and go on to live happy, healthy lives.

On this ANZAC Day, we pause to remember not just the brave soldiers who served, but also the loyal animals who stood by their side 🐾

From horses carrying troops across difficult terrain to dogs delivering messages and providing comfort, these faithful companions showed incredible courage. They shared the hardships, offered comfort during the darkest moments, and saved countless lives.

This statue of Bill the bastard symbolises how horses assisted the troops during WW1. Bill was a fractious, fierce and some thought unbreakable chestnut, Waler, stallion who became a Great War legend for his incredible stamina and effort in saving many soldiers’ lives. He was one of over 130,000 Australian horses that served in the First World War, who were never to return home. You can visit the statue in Murremburrah NSW.
