The Paws for Life Animal Shelter and Boarding Kennels is a facility run by Tamworth Regional Council. Hours: Monday to Friday by appointment.

Open Saturday 9am - 2pm. Closed Sundays & Public Holidays. The Paws for Life Animal Shelter and Boarding Kennels is a facility run by Council to house animals long term that are available for adoption, and free up much needed space at the Tamworth Regional Companion Animal Centre. Members of the public interested in adopting a pet are asked to call Paws for Life on (02) 6767 5991 and arrange an ap

🐾 TAFFY – SOME BEST FRIENDS ARE WORTH THE WAIT 🐾

Taffy has officially left the building… and along with her brand-new life, she’s also scored a brand-new name – meet Piper!

There was one VERY excited little boy who had been counting down the days until she could finally come home. From the moment they met, it was pretty clear Piper had found something special – her very own best mate.

There was just one tiny problem…

Piper still had a few things to tick off before she was ready to head home, including completing her mandatory vet work. So while she got everything sorted, her new human had the incredibly difficult job of waiting patiently for a few weeks until his new best friend was finally ready.

And when you’re a kid waiting to bring your dog home, a few weeks might as well be 10 years. 😂

But he waited patiently, Piper got the all-clear and FINALLY the big day arrived!

And while she might have one particularly excited young best mate, Piper certainly hasn’t gone home short on company. She’s also got a younger little human to grow up alongside, some new four-legged siblings to show her the ropes and a whole family ready to make her one very loved girl. 🥰🐾

There’s something pretty special about kids growing up with their dogs – the backyard adventures, secret conversations, games, cuddles, partners-in-crime and all those little moments that eventually become some of the best childhood memories.

We have a feeling Piper has plenty of adventures ahead of her… and that one very patient little boy has finally got the best mate he’s been waiting for.🐶👦

🐾 POLLY POCKET HAS LEFT THE BUILDING! 🐾

Our little fun-sized, fully charged Polly Pocket has officially headed off to her forever home – and in true Polly fashion, she wasted absolutely NO time making herself comfortable!

There was no awkward settling-in period. No cautiously testing the waters. No wondering whether she belonged. Polly basically arrived, zoomed around and said, “Yep… this’ll do. I live here now.” Polly even decided she would test out that lap-dog life after all. 😂

Polly now has an older Border Collie sibling to show her the ropes (and potentially question where on earth this tiny ball of energy came from), plus kids who are going to absolutely adore having their own pocket-sized partner-in-crime to play, run and adventure with.

For a little girl who LOVES being in the middle of the action, we think she may have found the perfect family!

🌭🐾 GUINNESS - 'SNAGGED' UP QUICK!🐾🌭

Well… it’s happened again. Another pound pup has been snagged up before he even made his big Paws For Life debut!

Meet Guinness, our little long-bodied, short-legged gentleman who clearly decided there was no need for an adoption profile when he could simply skip the queue and head straight home.

And where is this little sausage headed?
To a home with OTHER SAUSAGES, of course.

Because anyone who has ever owned a dachshund knows the golden rule: You can’t have just one! One sausage becomes two… two becomes three… and before you know it, you’ve got yourself a full continental breakfast running around the house. 😂

Guinness has officially traded pound life for the best life, complete with new dachshund siblings to show him the ropes, share the blankets and undoubtedly teach him all the important dachshund traditions - selective hearing, blanket burrowing and supervising absolutely everything.

Congratulations Guinness on your new home with your beautiful family!

🌹🐾 ROSA – THE PICK OF THE PUPPY PATCH 🐾🌹

Meet Rosa, an approximately 12-week-old female mixed breed pup who is already proving that some little flowers just bloom ahead of schedule.

Sweet by name and even sweeter by nature, Rosa is an incredibly affectionate little girl with a beautiful, balanced personality. She loves a cuddle, enjoys her playtime and has just the right amount of puppy energy without feeling the need to turn absolutely everything into complete chaos.

But underneath that sweet little exterior is one seriously clever pup.
Rosa is super intelligent, eager to please and already a master of some of the basics. She picks things up incredibly quickly and genuinely seems to enjoy learning - making training with her feel less like convincing a puppy to cooperate and more like having a tiny student who actually read the homework.

She’s attentive, willing and keen to figure out what her humans want from her. Add in some praise, affection and a tasty reward, and Rosa is more than happy to show you just how clever she can be.

Of course, even the prettiest little roses still need some tending. Rosa is only a baby and will need a family committed to continuing her training, socialisation and positive exposure as she grows. With her willingness to please and naturally balanced temperament, she already has some beautiful foundations to build on.
If there are existing dogs in the home, a meet and greet will be required to make sure everyone is happy with their potential new family member.

🐾 MAC – FAST LEARNER, FASTER DISTRACTED & WILL WORK FOR SNACKS 🐾

Meet Mac, our approximately 12-week-old mixed breed pup who is currently throwing some pretty convincing Red Cattle Dog X vibes… along with a healthy dose of mischief, energy and the kind of confidence that says ‘I don’t know what we’re doing, but I’m coming.'

Mac is a clever little bloke. He’s already learning quickly, picking up new things and showing us there’s definitely a very smart dog hiding inside that puppy brain.

The only problem? He has the attention span of a toddler in a toy aisle. Sit? Absolutely. Focus? Yep. Continue focusing because a leaf moved three metres away? Absolutely not. Unless, of course, you have food. Then suddenly Mac is an employee of the month candidate with excellent attendance, unwavering eye contact and a strong commitment to professional development. 😂

Mac is energetic, playful, curious and just mischievous enough to keep life interesting. He loves exploring, playing and getting involved in whatever is happening around him - and if there’s something he probably shouldn’t be investigating, you can safely assume Mac has already put it on his to-do list.

Like all puppies, Mac will need a family committed to continuing his training, socialisation and exposure as he grows. He’s already showing us how intelligent and trainable he can be, and with consistency, patience and a strategically placed snack or two, we think this little bloke is going to make one seriously fun companion.

🐾 STEVIE – ONE FANCY EYE, TWO CONFUSED EARS & A WHOLE LOT OF CUTE 🐾

Meet Stevie, our approximately 12-week-old female mixed breed pup who is living proof that sometimes the cutest things come with absolutely no regard for symmetry. 😂

Let’s start with the obvious.

Stevie has one gorgeous parti-coloured eye that makes her look extra fancy… and two ears that appear to be having an ongoing disagreement about which direction they’re supposed to face.

Up? Down? Sideways? One of each? Stevie has decided consistency is boring. 😂

Behind all that ridiculous cuteness is an insanely sweet, clever little girl who is already showing us just how quickly she can learn. Stevie is intelligent, eager and picking things up beautifully - although, being only a baby, she’ll still need a family committed to continuing her training, socialisation and teaching her all the important things that come with growing into a well-mannered adult dog.

She’s playful, curious and loves getting involved in whatever is happening. Whether it’s playing, learning something new or simply convincing you that you definitely have room for a puppy in your life, Stevie gives everything 100%.

(Except apparently ear positioning. She’s still workshopping that.)

Like all puppies, Stevie will need patience, routine, boundaries and plenty of positive experiences as she grows. If there are already dogs in the home, a meet and greet will be required to make sure everyone is happy with the newest member of the family.

🐾 POLLY POCKET – TINY PACKAGE, RIDICULOUS AMOUNT OF FUN 🐾

Remember Polly Pocket? Tiny, portable and somehow packed with an entire world of entertainment? Well… same concept. More zoomies. 😂

Meet Polly, our 1-year-old Foxie X who may have been built in the small-dog factory… but apparently ‘pocket-sized’ only applies to her dimensions, not her energy levels.

Petite? At only 3.8kgs, Absolutely!
Cute? Obviously.
Quiet little lap dog? Polly would like you to stop spreading misinformation.

This pocket-sized powerhouse LOVES to play. Fetch? YES. Chase? YES. Running? YES. Running for absolutely no reason other than the fact she has legs? Also yes. If there’s a ball to retrieve, something to investigate or an adventure to be had, Polly is already three steps ahead of you.

She’s fun, energetic, clever and absolutely packed with personality. Polly would love an active home where her little legs can stay busy with walks, adventures, games, training and plenty of playtime. If you’re looking for a decorative little dog to sit quietly on the lounge and admire from afar… this is not that model. 😂

Polly is okay with other dogs and could potentially enjoy having a canine partner-in-crime to share her adventures with. A meet and greet will be required with any existing dogs to make sure they’re the perfect match – preferably someone who appreciates her commitment to recreational zooming. 🐶💨

At just 12 months old, Polly is still a young girl and will benefit from continued training, boundaries and plenty of enrichment to keep that busy little Foxie brain occupied. In return, you’ll get a hilarious and entertaining little sidekick who is always ready to ask the important question:
“Okay… but what are we doing NEXT?” She may be Polly Pocket-sized, but there is absolutely nothing pocket-sized about her personality.

If you’re looking for a petite adventure buddy who comes fun-sized, fully charged and ready for action, Polly might just be your girl. 💕

A huge thank you Pawfectly Stunning for their very generous donation of delicious treats for the dogs at Paws For Life Animal Shelter and the Companion Animal Centre.

Safe to say, they were a HUGE hit! Our four-legged taste testers took their responsibilities VERY seriously and would like Pawfectly Stunning to know that they are more than happy to assist with any future product testing. You know… for research purposes. 😂🐶

Donations like these are such a lovely way to provide a little extra enrichment and enjoyment for the dogs while they wait for their families.
