UPDATE: โHarleyโ has been adopted!
Meet โHarleyโ ๐ค๐ถ๐ก
A lot of you will already be familiar with this gorgeous girl after we rescued her from a Canberra pound, and she arrived safely into our care last week. After spending the entire period of 2026 sitting in the pound waiting for someone to give her a chance, we think itโs finally โHarleyโsโ turn to find the happy ending sheโs waited far too long for.
Yesterday was a big day for our sweet girl! โHarleyโ underwent surgery to amputate her happy tail (yesโฆ sheโs literally so excited to see people that she wagged her tail until she injured it! ๐ฅน). A huge thank you to Dr Brook, Dr Kristie and Nurse Angelina, who took wonderful care of her. While she was under anaesthetic, โHarleyโ also had a few teeth extracted, and weโre so pleased to say she has absolutely sailed through her recovery like the superstar she is.
Nowโฆ letโs talk about โHarleyโ herself.
If youโre looking for a dog who loves people with her whole heart, youโve just found her. โHarleyโ absolutely thrives on human company and would happily nominate herself as your full time shadow. Whether youโre heading outside, relaxing on the couch or simply walking from one room to anotherโฆ โHarleyโ would very much like to be involved.
At 8 years young and weighing 28.3kg, โHarleyโ clearly didnโt get the memo that sheโs technically a senior! She still has plenty of bounce in her step, loves being active and would thrive with someone who enjoys daily walks, backyard play sessions and spending quality time together. Sheโs full of life and has so much love left to give.
โHarleyโ already knows sit and drop, and the quickest way to her heart isโฆ treaties. She is incredibly treat motivated, which makes continuing her training a breeze. One thing we do want to be upfront about is that โHarleyโ is very strong on the lead, so sheโll need someone confident who is happy to continue working with her manners during walks.
โHarleyโ will also need an owner who understands that settling into a home wonโt happen overnight. After spending such a long time living in the pound, sheโs forgotten what itโs like to have a family of her own. Sheโll need patience, reassurance and time to decompress as she learns that sheโs finally safe. The reward, however, will be a loyal best friend who adores her people.
We also want to be completely transparent about โHarleyโsโ ongoing medical needs. She has suffered from chronic ear infections and is currently receiving PMP Ear Suspension twice daily. Along with her ears, her skin is something that may require lifelong management. Weโve worked hard to get โHarleyโ up to date with everything on our end, but her future family must be financially prepared and committed to continuing her veterinary care for the rest of her life. She deserves someone who will invest in her health just as much as sheโll invest her heart in them.
โHarleyโ has not been tested with other animals, so weโd love to find her a home where she can be the only pet. Quite franklyโฆ sheโs waited long enough for someone to make her the centre of their universe, and we think sheโs earned that privilege. She absolutely craves attention and is looking for that special someone to build an unbreakable bond with.
โHarleyโ has spent far too long waiting for life to begin. Now all she needs is someone willing to take a chance on a beautiful girl who still greets every day with a wagging tail (hopefully a much healthier one now! ๐).
Please help us give โHarleyโ the second chance sheโs been desperately waiting for. If you canโt adopt, sharing her post far and wide could be the reason her forever family finds her.
๐ If youโd like to arrange a time to meet โHarleyโ, please send an email to [email protected], addressed to Shannon, telling us a little about yourself, your household and what you can offer โHarleyโ.
Letโs find this beautiful girl the loving home sheโs waited so patiently for!!! ๐๐๐
Adoption Cost:
โHarleyโsโ adoption fee is $300. She is desexed, vaccinated, microchipped, wormed and flea treated.
