Mixed Practice Veterinary Clinic - Friendly and Professional Animal Health Care Consultations at both clinics and on-farm are available during working hours.

A country practice serving the local community with a huge range of veterinary services. All species tended to, including to cattle, sheep, alpacas, horses, dogs, cats, rabbits and birds. Routine and Emergency surgeries are also performed at both clinics. Our main clinic is situated in Tallangatta with a fully equiped branch clinic being located in the main street of Kiewa [52 Kiewa East Rd Tangam

balanga] that is open 5 days a week from 9 am - 5 pm. Ph (02) 60 273 221. We also travel for on-farm and home consultations including, but not exclusive to; Kiewa, Tallangatta & Mitta valleys, Wodonga, Thurgoona, Bullioh, Georges Creek, Bethanga, Yackandandah, Staghorn & Allan's Flats. A 24 hour afterhours service is available, Ph (02) 60 712 594. The practice has 7 friendly vets as well as many wonderful support staff.

🌈 Today is Rainbow Bridge Remembrance Day, and we pause to remember our furry, feathered and scaly friends that are no longer with us and forever left their mark in our hearts ❤️

We remember their loyalty, funny and quirky traits, the special bond they shared, and the unconditional love they always gave us.

🚧 ROADWORKS & DETOUR NOTICE 🚧
Please be aware that Transport Victoria will be carrying out roadworks on the Kiewa Valley Highway from Tuesday, 25 August for approximately four days, weather permitting.
The works are between Wodonga-Yackandandah Road and Lindsay Road, with a detour in place via Wodonga-Yackandandah Road and Lindsay Road.
If you have an appointment with the Kiewa Clinic this week, please allow some extra travel time to ensure you arrive on time. 🐾

✨ Sparkling clean now ✨

Can you see 👀 the yellow-brown tartar on the surface of the teeth?

This is a coating that develops on the tooth that is similar to that “furry feeling” you get when you forget to brush your teeth - it’s a biofilm of bacteria 🦠 and food 🍗 particles.

Over time, this continues to build up and forms a hard layer (it’s honestly like cement!) a no amount of bones 🦴, tooth brushing 🪥 or dental chews 🍖 will remove!

That’s when we recommend getting your pet’s teeth back to being clean 🧼 again, which requires physical 💪 removal of the tartar while under anaesthetic.

We use an ultrasonic scaler to remove the tartar and polish the teeth, like at the human dentist. Any rotten, broken, or diseased teeth are removed as these cause ongoing pain, infection and can contribute other health conditions.

A lot of our clients comment that they didn’t think their pet had any problems with their mouth as they continued to eat, but are amazed how much their dog or cat are happier after their dental procedure ☺️

This August, we ask you to “flip the lip” on your pet - what do you see?
🦷 Smelly breath
🦷 Brown, yellow or grey colouring on teeth
🦷 Red gums
🦷 Gums that bleed easily
🦷 Mobile or loose teeth

If you notice any of these signs, please ask 🤔 your vet or vet nurse about the level of your pet’s dental disease. In the early stages, we can reverse dental disease!

💙 Archie 💙
This handsome fellow is a Labrador X Kelpie who came in recently for acute onset vomiting and diarrhoea.

I wonder if the Labrador in him won, and he ate something he shouldn’t have or didn’t agree with him?!

Archie was a very brave boy for his IV catheter and IV medications. He was discharged as an outpatient to continue his care at home.

We hope you are feeling better Archie! 😇
