Now the dust has started to settle from our amazing trip to Tassie TQ25, it’s time to say how incredibly proud I am of these horses.
Khan Sadyk blew me away by coming 1st Heavyweight and Best Conditioned, 9th overall and winning the coveted Pat Slater Cup, which is truly an honour. At only 7 years old, this horse is something special and I’m very excited for our future together.
Bullio Panda gave us an emotional roller coaster when she decided that sticks were in her diet and got one stuck in her mouth. Thanks to the great vets we got it out with no damage and she was cleared to start the ride. She smashed out the first part (especially for her first 160km), but we decided to withdraw her at 130km. She may be small in stature, but is enormous in personality and talent, and we’re looking forward to seeing what more she can do.
There are so many people to thank for making all this possible:
The Huxtables for letting us stay and their amazing hospitality
Heath for all his help with Sadyk
Peter Horobin Saddlery keeping both horses and riders happy and comfy all day in their SF Eldorados
Kylie Berg for everything she does for me and all she has gone thru to still be here with us
Brigitta for coming all the way over from Adelaide to help strap
Jess Meares for breeding Sadyk and her unwavering support
All the others that have been a part of mine and Sadyk’s journey
And of course the incredible committee, volunteers, vets, and sponsors that put so much into an awesome event
