⏰ROAD MANAGEMENT PLAN REINSTATED⏰

🚧 Council has reinstated the Road Management Plan following its temporary suspension due to the Longwood Fire Event. This marks a return to standard road inspections, maintenance and repair schedules across the Shire, except for roads directly impacted by the fire.

🛠️ Approximately 450 km of fire‑impacted roads will remain under a restricted suspension for a further six months while recovery works continue.

👋During this time, Council will continue to prioritise works based on safety, risk and available resources.

📣 Thank you for your patience and understanding during the emergency response and recovery period.

🔸Look Over the Farm Gate applications are now open🔸

The program offers grants of up to $5,000 to local organisations to run community events that support mental health and wellbeing.

Since mid 2025, close to 200 Look Over the Farm Gate events have brought communities together, engaging around 28,000 people across the state.

Look Over the Farm Gate is managed by the National Centre for Farmer Health on behalf of the Victorian Government to support drought-impacted communities across the state.

Despite being in her 4th decade of service Taggerty Tanker 1 has been hard at it still.The old girl is now 33 years in service and one of the oldest in the CFA fleet. Headlights like candles, no airbags, no ABS and lap sash style seat belts. On the plus side the tape deck works and you can feel nostalgic as you rumble down the road. If there is a tail wind it can nearly do the speed limit to! Great to see so many community and brigade members at the station this morning to get a fire update and support each other. Stay safe everyone and thanks for the support and kind messages.

Taggerty Store opening normal hours today for limited services.

Invitation to all to come to the store and enjoy a free wellbeing cuppa with a chat. Between 10am and 3pm while milk lasts.

Tomorrow hours will hopefully be normal.

Post office services limited but any Buxton and Taggerty mail that is in store can be collected between 9am and 5pm if conditions are safe.

Our thoughts are with all community members in our wider area - please keep safe.

This Emergency Warning is being issued for Cathkin, Caveat, Ghin Ghin, Highlands, Kanumbra, Killingworth, Koriella, Limestone, Molesworth, Whanregarwen, Yarck.
- There is a bushfire at Longwood that is not yet under control.
- The bushfire is expected to continue to extend in a south-easterly direction towards Lake Eildon

Leaving immediately is the safest option, before conditions become too dangerous.

Emergency services may not be able to help you if you decide to stay.
