Saffie and Sassy are enjoying some loving time out of the Aviary; they're both 3 years old now and have been in the Aviary for 2 years. They're still the same lovely natures as when we hand-raised them some years ago 🥰🥰

It's time for us to leave the home we know.
We are off to our new home today. Our new family has also ordered all of our food, including our seed mix, sprouting mix, a sprouter, and a sleeping box, all of which we're used to, and they're all packed up and waiting to be picked up.

WARNING , DO NOT ATTEMPED THIS AT HOME. THIS SHOULD ONLY BE ATTEMPTED BY A COMANANT AVIAN VET AND STILL HAS HIGH RISCKS ASSOIATED WITH IT.
Shared for awareness of the dangers of having fabric huts and toys.
A warning:
We often assume that the products we buy for our feathered companions are 'Safe'. Unfortunately, this is a false assumption in many cases, as evidenced by exposure to 'happy hut' in many parrot groups and by Avian vets warning about their dangers because they fulfil their natural instinct to chew.
Many parrot owners do not realise that parrots' beaks grow continually, just like our fingernails do. Also, Parrots are "hard-wired" to chew. So they constantly chew to keep their beak in shape, in top condition, trimmed, and manageable.

DANGERS OF A BIRD HARNESS
Not conure-related, but just had to share. Just earned my karma points for the rest of the year. A young four-year-old blue and gold macaw escaped its owner on a leash and harness after being spooked. After the electricity company, tree loppers, and a host of all good people tried to retrieve her from the power poles to tall gums, it got away from the tree lopper at the last second, and we thought all was lost as it flew off. Then, as I was doing the birds' waters in my backyard, right on dark, I heard the commotion of local birds harassing something over my fence. Sure enough, it was the blue and gold in the top of a gum tree. I could see the lead hanging down and thought that if I put a coat hanger with a small hook on it, I might be able to twist it around the lead. First try, it spun off. Second try, I wrapped it right up to the bird and harness, hoping I could then just lower the link stick with said bird. "Nope". She headed for the sky, and I was suddenly sky fishing a golden macaw gently down to my wife from the top of my son's cubby house. The old fella got his baby back, and I felt good after all the bad news. "Finally, some good news!!". So happy she's back with the owner.
