So, to be named a FINALIST in the
'North Shore Local Business Awards 2026'
as Best Fur Forward celebrates just 12 months in business is truly what dreams are made of.

Only 12 months after launching MATCHA litter,
with the hope of sharing my purrfect litter with our beautiful cat community,
I honestly still can’t believe this is real.
Behind those 12 months has been a lot of juggling. Continuing to work as a Veterinarian, raising a family, and building a new business from the ground up.

As a Veterinarian, I feel so proud and humbled to be recognised in the same category as the incredible and reputable vet clinics I have worked in, worked alongside and admired over the years.

I never imagined this would be achievable so early in my business journey.

Never used clumping cat litter before?
Or wondering what the fuss is about compared to non-clumping litter?
Here’s the difference.
With non-clumping litter,
wet litter sitting in the tray,
that “cat tray” smell in your home everyday,
full tray cleans and dumping of litter every few days,
and yes… smelly wet paws.

I was over it.

The smell.

As a Veterinarian and lifelong cat mum,
I wanted better.

Not just for my cats,
but for families across Australia who see their cats as family and want their home to feel clean,

H5 bird flu has now been detected in WA, SA and NSW, Australia.
and YES,
It can affect cats.

But this is not a panic post.

It is a calm, practical reminder that our cats are safest when we reduce their contact with wild birds.

At this stage, H5 has only been confirmed in a small number of wild migratory seabirds in Australia, with no current detections in poultry, cats, or the food production system.

That is reassuring.

But because cats can be exposed through contact with infected birds, eating wild birds, or contaminated environments, it is important to stay vigilant.

My Vet advice for cat parents right now:

Keep cats indoors or safely contained where possible.
Use secure outdoor enclosures.
Do not allow cats to hunt or eat wild birds.
Keep cats away from sick or dead birds.
Wash your hands after contact with birds, bird droppings, outdoor shoes or gear.
Do not touch sick or dead wildlife.

If you find a sick or dead wild bird, keep pets away and report it to the
Emergency Animal Disease Hotline: 1800 675 888.

Please seek urgent veterinary advice if your cat has had possible bird exposure and develops sudden lethargy, weakness, breathing signs, vomiting, diarrhoea, wobbliness, tremors or seizures.

Stay calm. Stay informed. Keep them safe.

I used to think belief meant feeling confident.

But I’m learning that sometimes belief looks like showing up alone, in a city where nobody knows you,
and backing yourself anyway.

This weekend I’m in Adelaide with MATCHA,
standing behind the product I created because I truly believe it can make life cleaner,
calmer and easier for cat homes across Australia.

It’s not always easy.
It’s definitely not always comfortable.

But this dream means too much to me not to keep showing up.

For the cats.
For the people who love them.

And for the little business I’m building,
one brave step at a time......
