SAFE Animal Rehoming SAFE stands for 'Sydney's Animals For Everyone'. We rehome animals, mainly cats in Sydney Australia. We also offer premium boarding for cats.

Please come and visit us at SAFE Haven to adopt a cat. Rehoming Organisation Number R251000093 CFN: 26206 SAFE Rehoming is a registered animal welfare charity operating in Northern Sydney, Australia. It was launched in September 2017 by a group of professional animal carers who run the charity on an unpaid basis and since that time SAFE has earned a reputation as a trusted place for unwanted, homeless and stray animals. SAFE cares for animals both at SAFE Haven in Roseville and through foster carers. All dogs are cared for by foster carers
Animals are either surrendered or found abandoned by good samaritans. All animals available for adoption are microchipped, desexed, health checked, behaviour assessed, vaccinated and treated for fleas and worms. The charity is run by a committee voted for by members and headed by a President. It has a membership structure which brings in fees once a year, otherwise it depends on donations and fundraising activities to care for the animals in care. https://saferehoming.com.au

UPDATE: SAFE Rehoming (and Bassuria) is located in Mona Vale on the Sydney Northern Beaches. Bassuria got on with his friend Julie so we donโ€™t see a reason why he would not get on with other cats given appropriate time is taken for introductions. Bassuria needs to be on ZD food sensitivities wet and dry food only and should not really eat any other food as it doesnโ€™t seem to agree with him.

Hi, Iโ€™m Bassuria and today I am officially the King of the shelter. Mostly because Iโ€™ve been here for 4 years today ๐Ÿ‘‘

Iโ€™m not sure why my forever family hasnโ€™t found me yet. Maybe itโ€™s because Iโ€™m only just getting used to humans. Last week I let a couple of humans stroke me and it was definitely not as bad as I expected. The humans here promise me that my person is out there.

I threw on my best party hat today, ate some extra ZD food and made a big wish when I blew out my candles: I wished for a real couch to sleep on.

Bree was pregnant when she arrived at SAFE and gave birth to three healthy kittens, Osamu (tabby and white), Bongo and Kokora (both ch*****ne). Her kittens found loving homes as soon as they were ready but Bree needed a little more time to adjust to life at SAFE. She is a shy, sensitive girl who has found the world a bit overwhelming, and learning to feel safe has been a slow journey.
One of our wonderful volunteers spent several weeks patiently working with Bree, helping her to graduallyy come out of her shell. Progress has been slow and it's been a long journey so far but Bree loves to play with a wand toy and this would be a way to gain her trust.
With consistency and a patient person to walk alongside her in a permanent home, we hope that Bree will continue to build confidence. At just over two years old, she has so much life ahead of her and after spending 18 months in care, we'd love nothing more than to see her happy and settled in a home of her own where she can finally relax.
Bree is not a cat who runs up to greet you, but she deserves the chance to discover that having her own person and her own safe place can be a wonderful thing.
She is waiting at SAFE for you to give her a happy ever after. โค๏ธ

Topaz (our Stella) was adopted with Pippin. They weren't litter mates but as they got used to their new safe space together they gradually came out of their shells and warmed up to each other.
There was the occasional hiss at first, but with time, patience and space to settle in, these two have become the best of friends! ๐Ÿฅฐ
Their owner has no concerns at all, and itโ€™s lovely to see how far theyโ€™ve come - a beautiful reminder that unbonded kittens can learn to coexist and become the best of buddies when given the chance.

Oreo is a handsome, playful boy who enjoys being around people, and when we can give him more freedom at SAFE, he is very relaxed ๐Ÿ˜ผ (see photos of him stretching out with us in reception and playing in the larger space).
Life in the shelter is inevitably confined, with pressure for cats to respond to unfamiliar people, and Oreo sometimes communicates his discomfort with a hiss, growl and occasionally, a swipe. Weโ€™ve seen this kind of behaviour many times before, and we know from experience how much the right home can change things.
๐Ÿก The best happy ending for Oreo would be to share a home with adults and/or a teenager or two. Heโ€™s not currently a lap cat or one for cuddles (but you never knowโ€ฆ), however he will enjoy lying beside you and is happy to entertain himself or snooze when youโ€™re out.
If your experience means you can understand his cat messages and signals, if you can give him space when he asks for it and let things develop gradually, youโ€™ll get on with Oreo fabulously! Of course there are no guarantees, just really positive indicators that, that if given a chance and things align in his permanent home, Oreo will prove to be a loyal, affectionate companion.

Weโ€™re absolutely delighted to hear that Pasmo is doing really well and has settled into his new home beautifully. ๐Ÿฅฐ He absolutely adores his brother and sister, Wombat and Wallaby, and it sounds like he has found his perfect little family. โค๏ธ Wallaby was also adopted from SAFE, so we love knowing that two SAFE babies are now living their best lives together!

๐Ÿ‘‘ Meet Princess โ€” a beautiful older kitten who needs someone to believe in her. ๐Ÿ’•
Princess was being fed in the garden of a kind Good Samaritan. She loved being stroked and was so friendly and affectionate that they felt sure she must have lived in a loving home before being abandoned. She was such a sweet girl, they felt she deserved another chance and asked SAFE to help.
Unfortunately Princess has found life in the shelter overwhelming. Over the last couple of months, she has struggled to adjust and copes by hiding most of the time.
๐Ÿ’”And that breaks our hearts ๐Ÿ’”
Because we know that beneath this shy behaviour is an affectionate girl who just doesnโ€™t feel safe enough to show her true personality yet.
๐Ÿก Princess doesnโ€™t need to become a different cat, we know already that she is very affectionate. In a quiet, calm home, perhaps with older children, we believe she will relax and be the loving girl we know is there. โค๏ธPrincess is used to being around other cats, so if you have a resident cat, with the right introductions itโ€™s likely things will go well.

๐Ÿพ FOSTER CARERS WANTED โ€“ KITTEN SEASON IS IN FULL SWING๐Ÿพ

Kitten season has started with a bang, and we are receiving countless enquiries from people asking for help with mums and their precious kittens.

We want to be able to say YES to as many of these cats as possible โ€“ but we need more foster carers to make it happen! โค๏ธ

We are urgently looking for foster carers across Sydneyโ€™s Northern Beaches and North Shore, ideally close to our veterinary partners.

๐Ÿก All you need is a spare room!

You donโ€™t need to be an experienced foster carer or have a huge house. A quiet, safe spare room where Mum and her kittens can settle in is enough. We will provide guidance and support throughout the foster journey, and our team is here to help whenever you need us.

Fostering can be incredibly rewarding. Youโ€™ll get to watch kittens grow from tiny babies into confident, happy cats โ€“ while giving Mum a safe place to raise them and giving the whole family a chance at finding their forever homes. ๐Ÿ’•
