🐾💗 HAPPY VET NURSE DAY 2026! 💗🐾

To the incredible team at Abbotsbury Vet, from all of us at Mini Kitty Commune, THANK YOU. 🩺🐱💕

Thank you for your unwavering dedication, your incredible knowledge, your endless support, and the compassion you show our precious rescue kittens and cats.

You are not just vet nurses. You are exceptionally talented, highly trained professionals who bring an extraordinary depth of knowledge, skill and experience to every little life that comes through your doors.

You have been there through the heartbreak and the hope. 💔❤️

You have shed tears alongside us for the tiny kittens and precious cats we desperately tried to save, sharing the sadness when, despite everyone’s best efforts, some little lives were simply not meant to be.

And you have rejoiced with us over every milestone, no matter how small. The first independent feed, the tiny weight gain, the first purr, the first playful step, the recovery we weren’t sure would happen. You understand that, in rescue, these little victories are EVERYTHING. 🥹🐾

You have celebrated our wins, supported us through our losses, shared our worries and helped us keep going when things have been difficult.

Your dedication goes far beyond your incredible medical skills. It is in your kindness, your patience, your willingness to help, and the genuine love and care you give to animals who often arrive at their most vulnerable.

For every kitten you have helped save, every cat you have comforted, every tear you have wiped away and every little victory you have celebrated with us, please know that you make a difference that cannot be measured.

We are so incredibly grateful to have you beside us on this rescue journey. We couldn’t do what we do without the knowledge, expertise and support you so generously give.

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for being the amazing humans you are. ❤️

Happy Vet Nurse Day to the extraordinary team at Abbotsbury Vet. You are appreciated more than words can ever say. 🐾💗

With love and endless gratitude,
Mini Kitty Commune 🐱💕

🐾Did you know Dr Jen treats large animals as well as our little fur babies ? Today we were able to host one of her consultations with Alfred the very sick Alpaca. With his wonderful family with him that helped us get Alfred into the practice Dr Jen and Dr Zenya were able to examine him and administer the medication he needed.Alfred was a beautiful and well behaved boy as we collected blood for analysis and gave him life saving intravenous fluids and medications. Alfred has now gone home to recover and he is now eating well and on the road to recovery .🐾

🐾Dedicated to learning, Dedicated to caring .🐾 Just recently Dr Patricia and Senior Nurse Karina participated in a dual steam graft, flaps and wounds workshop. They jumped onto a plane to Brisbane followed by a road trip to the University Of Queensland, Gatton Campus. There they participated in a long weekend of learning advanced techniques in wound care and complex surgical procedures. From skin flaps, complex wound care and management, to analgesia , anaesthesia and patient care. Both Dr Patricia and Nurse Karina returned with the latest advancements to share with the rest of the AVC team. Our team is always learning, always caring to provide the very best care to our patients❤️.

🐾BEHIND THE SCENES🐾:ANAESTHESIA... When your pet is admitted for a procedure, we have an amazing team of highly skilled and compassionate nurses that make their stay as comfortable as possible. From the gentle handing, soft or pet funny voices to the warmth from cuddles, soft bedding and specialised heating blankets. They are very skilled and trained at identifying discomfort and pain and actioning it immediately. Our nurse team is actively involved in the anaesthetic process including monitoring where we use a combination of hands on approach (always touching our patients) and the use of high level monitoring equipment. We are able to monitor patients O2 levels, heart rate and rhythms with ECG , carbon dioxide levels, blood pressure (in a number of ways) and anaesthetic depth. We use a multimodal approach to anaesthesia to ensure the anaesthetic is safe and appropriate using intravenous and gaseous anaesthesia as well as CRIs , local anaesthetic blocks and pre and post surgery pain management plans. The nurse team is dedicated and always caring for your beloved furry baby as their own.❤️

FELINE PANLEUKOPENIA- FELINE PARVOVIRUS OUTBREAK. Feline panleukopenia is a highly contagious disease caused by the feline parvovirus. It is transmitted by bodily fluids but most often via faeces. It is very stable in the environment which allows infection to occur for long periods of time. Symptoms include depression, lethargy, anorexia, vomiting and bloody diarrhoea and death. There are no antivirals available for this terrible disease and treatment involves very intensive supportive therapy. Even with intensive therapy prognosis is poor. Vaccination is the only therapy to prevent infection. If your cats' vaccinations are not upto date we highly recommend vaccinating your cat to help prevent infection and stop this terrible disease. We have had over 10 cases from Bossley Park and Bonnyrigg that presented in the last 2 weeks that are parvovirus positive.

Today we pause and remember those who fought so bravely for our great nation. The ANZACs symbolise courage endurance and endless sacrifice.
They shall grow not old, as we are left to grow old;
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them.
Lest we forget.
