CatRescue 901

CatRescue 901 Based in Sydney, Australia we rescue homeless cats & kittens from the streets and pounds. Thanks to a generous bequest, in 2020 we issued over 800 vouchers.

We have a network of approximately 30 dedicated foster carers, 20 veterinary practices and we rehome via our website and 5 PETstock stores CatRescue 901 is a Sydney based no kill organisation and registered not-for-profit, committed to rescuing, caring for and rehoming abandoned cats and kittens. Founded in 2006, originally as Catrescue NSW, our mission is to help combat and highlight the horrific number of cats and kittens abandoned on our streets and destroyed in council pounds each year. CatRescue 901 not only cares for helpless animals, but proactively tackles the source of the issue by campaigning for legislative change, and providing low-cost desexing, microchipping and community education. We strongly believe that the terrible number of companion animals killed each year in NSW can be prevented through cultural and legislative change. CatRescue 901 is committed to rescuing, caring for and rehoming abandoned cats and kittens from the streets and sometimes council pounds. We do our best to help the most vulnerable cats, rescuing the very young, elderly, sick, injured, blind, disabled and the abused while relying on the goodwill of the community and dedication of volunteers to achieve this vital work. Our network consists of approximately 50 dedicated foster carers, a small team of coordinators and approximately 20 veterinary practices across Sydney. We rehome our cats via our website and we are very fortunate to also rehome our felines through 5 PETstock stores. Our cats have all vetwork completed prior to adoption and in the event our adopters circumstances change and they are no longer able to care for them, we will always accept our cats back. DESEXING IS ABSOLUTELY VITAL TO REDUCE THE NUMBER OF ABANDONED AND UNWANTED FELINES. As funds allow, we issue desexing vouchers to promote responsible pet ownership and assist members of public to do their part in controlling the cat population problem. CatRescue 901 is a no kill organisation because every life is precious and every cat deserves a chance. This means that we are committed to doing the best for every cat in our care until their forever home can be found for them. Their paws are in our hands.

🐾 Ruby and her little family update!

Ruby has settled into her foster home and is feeding her almost two-week-old kittens well.

The kittens are growing quickly, with their eyes just starting to open and their little legs becoming more mobile as they begin to explore their surroundings.

For now, their days consist mostly of feeding, sleeping and growing, while Ruby takes care of the hard work.

We’re happy to see them all doing well and look forward to watching these little ones develop over the coming weeks. ❤️

A safe little slice of the outdoors for Mochi! 🐱💚

A huge thank you to Diana and her gorgeous cat Sammie for donating this outdoor enclosure to CatRescue901.

Adam purchased the enclosure through our online store for his beautiful boy Mochi, giving him a safe and secure place to enjoy some fresh air, sunshine and plenty of entertainment while watching the world go by. 🌿🐦

We love seeing donations like this put to such good use — and even more so when they help a cat enjoy the outdoors safely.

Thank you so much, Diana, for your generous donation, and to Adam for making sure Mochi gets to enjoy his outdoor adventures while staying safe. ❤️

We think Mochi has scored himself a pretty great little catio! 🐾

A little update on our newest mum and her babies. ❤️🐾

Mum and bubs are doing well, and she’s slowly starting to understand that her carer is there to help.

She’s now allowing a little more hands-on help with the babies, which is a lovely step forward. 🥰

For now, she is safe, warm and has a full tummy — exactly where she needs to be.

She has a lot to learn about trusting humans, but she’s already making progress.

One day at a time, Mum. You’re safe now. ❤️

Little Peggy had a pretty big day today. 🥹❤️

Peggy was found under a house at just 7 weeks old, already missing part of one of her back legs. She’s never let that slow her down, but with only skin covering the end of the bone, she was developing pressure sores.

Today she finally cracked the big 2kg milestone, which meant she was big enough for her spey and while she was under anaesthetic, Dr Prue was able to revise her little stump as well.

Her leg was shortened slightly so there was enough muscle and soft tissue to create some proper padding over the remaining bone, which should make life much more comfortable for her.

So now Peggy is desexed, her little leg is sorted, and once she’s recovered she can get back to her very important full-time job:

Being an absolutely unhinged little tripod kitten. 😂❤️
