So many benefits to chewing! 🐾🦴

Bennett & Harvey always get a chew after an outing and again at night — it’s a great way to help them regulate, decompress and chill out. 😌

In this clip they’re enjoying their WHIMZEES Australia Occupy chews. These are softer and designed for the transition stage , so they’re perfect for Bennett while he’s still young and good for Harvey’s older man mouth.

Now that Bennett is coming up to 6 months, I’m starting to give him a combo of Occupy + adult chews.
👉 Under 6 months? Stick with puppy chews.

Another absolute favourite in our house that they are enjoying in this clip is MARROWZ® ❤️

These two are my go-tos because they’re healthy, long-lasting and great value for money, you can grab them online or in store at Brian Abbott.

And it’s not always fancy chews…
Some of our other favourites are frozen carrots, cucumber, apple and celery.

When I’m organised, I’ll soak them in bone broth before freezing for an extra tasty enrichment boost. 👌

Chewing = enrichment + relaxation + a very happy dog! 🐶💤

Meet Dave 🐾💙

Dave was one of 7 spunky little pups who rocked up to Puppy Preschool last night at iPetStore and he sure is off to a fab start! 🐶

If you’ve got a new pup, be like Dave… start early!

Pups are safe to start one week after their first vaccination and while we take pups up to 20 weeks at the start of the course, earlier is definitely better.

Why? Because those early weeks are PRIME TIME for learning about the world, meeting new people, experiencing new things and learning how to be a good little canine citizen. 🐾

And let’s be honest… puppy brains are basically little sponges with legs. 😂

Our Preschool is all about learning, socialising, building confidence AND having fun … with plenty of puppy chaos thrown in for good measure!

We have classes starting most weeks, with weeknight and Saturday morning classes available.

So if you’ve got a new pup, don’t wait until they’re a teenager with opinions… 😜

🎉 RESULTS ARE IN!!!! 🎉

Well done to you all on some really fab guesses! There were some very good ones in there!

But our winner with 3/4 breeds correct is Angela Hoyle 🏆🐶

We were thinking some kind of Spaniel too, but Rose picked up on his Maremma traits really early on. I’ve included a pic of what he does quite often… back facing away, sitting and staring 😂 Definitely some Maremma in there!

But without a doubt, his Golden Retriever traits and personality are the most prominent. 💛

It’s actually pretty funny because I always wanted a Golden Retriever x German Shepherd, and along he came!
We honestly had no idea what he was.
We were originally told he was a Staffy x German Shepherd, but the traits just didn’t really add up!

I’m SO glad we did the DNA test. There are some dodgy companies out there, so if you’re keen to find out what your mixed breed really is, I highly recommend going through Blakehurst Vet. They use one of the most reputable DNA testing companies, and for $150, I think it’s definitely worth it for the answers! 🧬🐾

Who else is now looking at their dog wondering what’s REALLY in there? 😂

There are SO many behaviour issues that, when picked up and addressed early, can often be improved in just 1 or 2 sessions.

The important thing is that every dog is different, so there’s no one size fits all approach.
Behaviours like reactivity and anxiety can become harder to manage if they aren’t addressed, so the sooner we work out what’s going on, the better.

One of the biggest benefits of a private session is that we work in your dog’s familiar environment, without the distractions of a group class. For certain behaviours, we can make progress SO much quicker this way and I can give you a plan specifically for your dog and your family.

International Dog Day is this week, and it just happens to coincide with us finally receiving Bennett’s DNA results! 🧬🐶

We now know Bennett is a mix of EIGHT different breeds 😳 And there are four breeds that feature much more prominently than the others.

So… let’s have some fun! 👀

Can you guess Bennett’s TOP 4 breeds — in the order they feature most prominently?

🎁 The person who gets the closest match to the correct breeds AND order will win a month’s worth of Hill’s Science Diet!

I’ve tried to include some photos that might give you a little indication of what breeds could be hiding in our gorgeous boy. 😂

🐶 Bringing home a puppy? Don’t leave puppy preschool until the last minute! 🐾

🐾There is a very small window that is the major period of socialisation, being organised will set you and your pup up for success!

🌼Our classes do book out and we are consistently at capacity, and with the influx of spring puppies just around the corner, we expect wait times to stretch out even further.

💻My advice is simple, book your puppy into Preschool as soon as you bring them home, or even before they arrive!

💉And just to clear up something I get asked all the time… puppies are safe to start with us one week after their first vaccination. ❤️🐾

🙌There’s no need to wait until they’ve had all their vaccinations to start learning, socialising and building those really important early-life skills.

🐕We run weekday evening and Saturday morning Puppy Preschool classes at iPetStore Kirrawee and because our classes are small, they do fill quickly.

🐶 So if you’ve got a new puppy coming home, or one that has just arrived, don’t leave it until the last minute, get them booked in! 🥰

We’ve got a very long list of clever pups who have graduated from Puppy Preschool & Puppy Primary recently… and somehow we haven’t shared them all yet! 🙈

So here’s a BIG collective WELL DONE to every single one of you! 👏🏼💕

We have loved watching you learn, grow, build confidence and strengthen that special bond with your humans. 🐶❤️
