Great tip from Nicollette at Dogz Ink in hillside Victoria.

Using a great blender to lightly tip of the fuzzies gives a more even appearance.

Notice how little pressure Nicollette uses to scissor. 5 years and no sharpening these scissors paid for themselves with the savings of hundreds of dollars.

NEW PRODUCT

Introducing the Delta 40 Teeth Retro Thinner. 6”

Thinning shears are mainly used to soften, blend and refine a groom, rather than to remove large amounts of coat or create the main shape.

On dogs, groomers commonly use thinners to:

* Blend clipper lines, soften the transition between clipped and longer areas around the neck, shoulders and body.

* Blend different coat lengths, especially where one section needs to flow naturally into another.

* Soften scissor marks, remove visible lines left by straight or curved scissors.

* Create a natural finish on breeds where you don’t want the coat to look sharply scissored like terrier coats

* Refine faces around eyebrows, cheeks, muzzles and ears where a softer finish is desirable. Excellent on drop coats like Shih Tzu

* Blend furnishings, legs, skirts, chests and feathering into the body coat.

* Lightly reduce density - depending on the tooth configuration, although they’re generally not the tool of choice for removing significant bulk. I would use these on a spaniel or setter head.

Welcome to Team Delta, Ally Derrig

Ally’s grooming journey began in 2012 while working with Petbarn, where she completed her initial grooming training under Janelle Austin. It was there that her passion for gundog grooming first began.

Dogs have always been part of Ally’s life. She grew up in the dog show world, exhibiting her family’s Rhodesian Ridgebacks under the Sanyati prefix from the age of ten before later owning and grooming Chinese Cresteds. Today, her family includes three Rhodesian Ridgebacks, Maze, Envy and Bond, along with their much-loved senior Amstaff cross, Boris.

For the past five years, Ally has owned and operated WOLF & CO. Dog Groomingsuccessfully balancing a busy home salon while raising her three young children.

Always passionate about learning, Ally spent years attending grooming seminars and watching competitions before finally stepping into the competition ring in 2023, encouraged by fellow Delta Ambassador Sophie Infield.

That leap of faith quickly turned into remarkable success. Ally won her very first scissor class with a Bedlington Terrier at the Sydney Royal Easter Show before going on to earn Top Groomer 2024, selection for the 2025 FCI Groom Team, and most recently, a place on the 2026 Quokkas Australian Groom Team.

For Ally, competition grooming is about far more than winning. It is about continually learning, challenging herself and striving to produce the very best groom possible every time she steps into the ring.

We are so excited to Announce and welcome Delta Grooming Scissors Ambassador Sophie Infield owner of The Pup Spa in Bonnet bay NSW

Sophie is a Best in Show-winning competition groomer and was proudly ranked the #1 groomer in Australia across the qualifying events for Groom Team Australia 2026.

She began her grooming journey in 2014 as a bather while completing a Bachelor of Zoology at university. At the same time, she also completed her TAFE qualification in dog grooming.

For the past five years, Sophie has successfully owned and operated The Pup Spa, a boutique grooming salon in Sydney’s south, where she focuses on exceptional care, quality, and creating a positive grooming experience for every dog.

Sophie entered her first grooming competition in 2022 with her miniature poodle, Willow, placing second in the Asian Fusion class. Since then, she has discovered a true passion for competition grooming, successfully competing across multiple classes and breeds. She is continually striving to improve her skills by embracing judges’ feedback and refining her techniques.

Sophie first started using Delta scissors in 2023 and has been steadily building her collection ever since. They have become an essential part of both her competition grooming and her day to day salon work.

Her passion for dogs extends beyond grooming into conformation showing, where she has achieved numerous awards with her three miniature poodles: Willow, Sailor, and Sammy.

How did Delta Grooming Scissors begin?


Delta Grooming Scissors was born from a shared vision between professional groomer Joanne Marsden and renowned scissor designer, metallurgist, design engineer and craftsman Adrian Schlemmer.

After many years as a professional groomer, educator and competition organiser, Joanne became increasingly frustrated by the decline in the quality of grooming scissors available to the industry. She envisioned a premium grooming scissor that would not only deliver exceptional cutting performance but also reduce hand fatigue and the physical strain experienced by professional groomers who spend hours grooming every day.

Joanne shared this vision with Adrian, whose lifelong passion for metallurgy, scissor manufacturing, sharpening and the traditional craft of Japanese sword making had led him to spend decades designing premium scissors. Rather than adapting hairdressing scissors, Adrian studied the techniques, cutting angles and ergonomic requirements unique to professional dog grooming before designing the Delta range.

Launched in 2021 as Joanne was about to retire from Dog grooming due to injuries- Delta inspired Joanne to go back into Grooming as delta eased the pain and helped reduce injury symptoms.

Each pair of Delta Grooming Scissors is handfinished in, Japan, combining Japanese craftsmanship with precision - CNC. Computer numerically controlled 3 axis diamond grinding, nitrogen injected cold blast furnace hardening and hand finishing to create scissors designed specifically for professional groomers.
