Henry's Training Update 🐺 ❣

Love is in the air @ Positive Paws!

We've been sharing Henry's journey for a while now. He is a 'foster fail' overcoming great hurdles & nailing his training goals after suffering terrible trauma, becoming a shelter dog & finally finding his forever humans.

He is currently getting ready for his greatest achievement to date, a groomsdog at his human guardians wedding.

His suit fitting is done & all management strategies are in place to ensure Henry is well prepared & will be comfortable on the big day.

We are such proud trainers, congratulations Aleisha & Sam.

It's that time of year already ... Happy Easter Everyone 🐣🐰🍾🍫

Some Easter treats are toxic to our canines & other pets.
* Chocolate - highly toxic as contains Theobromine, just 50g can kill a dog
* Hot Cross Buns - highly toxic as contain sultanas which can cause acute kidney failure
Other foods to avoid sharing with your pets are avocados, nuts, onion, garlic, fatty meats, cooked bones & alcohol.

If you suspect your dog may have consumed any of these foods seek veterinary advice.

Meet Huxley 🐺❣

We met this pup & his human guardians to set them up for success before his crucial socialisation period ends.

Socialisation is exposing our pups to people, places, dogs & experiences in a positive way at their individual pace that they will encounter as an adult. dog.

Here Huxley is demonstrating sitting on cue as he is learning that jumping up is fun for him but not so much for humans.

It is easy to inadvertently reward pups for jumping up when they are small by encouraging the behaviour. We recommend teaching a sit cue & reward that behaviour. Soon enough you will have a pup who approaches & sits.

'Sniffari' aka 'Decompression Walks' aka 'Wander' aka 'Smell the P*e Mail'

Did you know a canine has 100 million sensory receptor sites in their nasal cavities & can detect scents 1000 - 10 000 times more acutely than humans? Wow!

We recommend taking your dog out for walks or wanders where you let them smell the roses (& everything else). It is so calming for their nervous system & great for their mental health & yours as well 🦴

Oscar's Big News!

We have introduced Oscar previously, he finds a few things in the world challenging especially moving cars.

At Oscar's session he was able to focus on his human guardian with a moving car close by. This is amazing progress for them, what a team!

We celebrate every success even the small ones but this is big for Oscar & today we are proud trainers!
