We recieved a phone call from one of our customers advising that they had a snake coming out of their bonnet.

We attneded their location and found this adorable harmless Common Tree Snake (Dendrelaphis punctulatus). They explained that they left home from Budrim and headed to Maroochydore Plaza.

Althought snakes aren't territorial they do have a home range they inhabit. When taken out of their home range and relocation to another area their chance of survival drops. To give this little fella the best chance of survival we took him back to his home range and found the perfect habitat for him to thrive.

We recieved a call couple weeks ago from a customer who advised that a snake had been hit by a car out at Beachmere.

We attended and picked up a stunning Coastal Carpet Python (Morelia spilota mcdowelli) it seemed ok, but to be on the safe side we took it down to Australia Zoo.

We recieved a phone call from Australia Zoo with some really good news, that the snake had a thorough check and was ready to be released back into the wild.

We recieved a phone call from a neighbour as I was pulling into the driveway with a black coloured snake in their yard.

We headed over and found this absolute stunner, a highly venomous Red Bellied Black Snake (Pseudechis porphyriacus) under the dog kennel.

With a couple of dogs, they didn't want it staying in their yard which is understandable.

This time of year males snakes are out looking for a female to mate with.

If you have a snake in your yard with pets don't panic. Best thing to do is bring them inside and give us a call we can have a chat about what species you have and why it may be there.

Recieved a phone call this evening for a snake stuck in a gap next to the bathroom door in Nambour.

Upon arriving I noticed the tail sticking out. On closer inspection on how it was stuck it had wedged it's body between a bit of concrete and the wall.

After an hour of working on getting it out I finally manage to free this stunning weakly venomous Southern Dwarf Crowned Snake (Cacophis krefftii). After doing a health check of it, it was able to release it back into suitable habitat.

Dwarf Crowned Snakes are 1 of 3 crowned snakes and also the smallest of the 3 Crowned species found here on the Sunshine Coast.

These guys are a nocturnal, terrestrial species that live under leaf litter, rocks, logs and bark. These guys will prey on small skinks and lizards.

If you have a snake in your house don't panic give us a call and we can provide you with free advice on how to best deal with the situation.. If you happen to have an injured or a snake in need of help we will come out rescue it.

Winter Is right around the Corner!!!

As it starts to cool down and winter being right around the corner, snake activity starts to decrease.

Snakes may find good warm hiding spots around your house such as rock retaining walls, under concrete slabs and roofs.

Snakes go into a state of brumation which means that their activity slows right down. During the warmer days of winter snake will come out to soak up the warmth of the sun and if there is an opportunity to eat they will take it but then will return to their hiding spot.

If you happen to see any snakes feel free to give us a call on 0459 346 400 we are more than happy to provide free advice anytime of the day or night.

Pic: Bandy Bandy (Vermicella annulata) also known as the Hoop Snake these guys are weakly venomous however are very reluctant to bite, they will arch their body as a defensive display to make them appear bigger.

We recieved a phone call this afternoon for a non venomous Coastal Carpet Python (Morelia Spilota Mcdowelli) from a storage facility at Warana.

Upon arriving we located this stunner curled up on the floor on the second story of the facility. We did a quick health check before bagging it and noticed that it recently had an injury to its tail that was almost completely healed with no sign of infection.

A snake can survive in the wild even with a stumpy tail as long as it doesnt go past the butt more commonly known as the cloaca.

We recieved a phone call this morning for a mildly venomous Brown Tree Snake (Boiga irregularis) from school in Kureelpa.

Being that they are a nocturnal species we found this little guy hanging out in the shoe shelf in a bathroom, not the most ideal place to be getting some Z's 😴

The kids were so intrigued in the snake and wanted to have a look, lets just say they were able to get front row seats to us catching from a safe distance outside the bathroom.

Once we had the snake safely bagged, and ready to leave we had a bit of a chat with the kids and teachers. The teacher was able to use this to educate the kids on snake safely and what to do if they come across one.

I recieved a call from our next door neighbour this morning waking up to what they thought may of been a snake in their living room.

They sent me a photo and it turned out to be this little fella.

At first glance you might think its a snake.

In fact this is not a snake but a reduced limb Three-claw worm skink (Anomalopus verreauxii) which are completely harmless.

If you look closely you can see little limbs coming from its body.

I went next door and picked it up and put it back in the garden where it belongs and will live a happy life.

If you have an unwanted visitor at your house feel free to give us a call and we can have a chat about what it is.
