This is very concerning as this is the “newest” drench that has been useful for properties with drench resistance. Options will now be even more limited. Even more reason to include other strategies like BioWorma and pasture rotation to help manage worms.

Startect wont be available in 2027
Dawbut newsletter mentioned this as Zoetis said their supplier of the main active ingredient has stopped manufacturing it and they need to find a new manufacturer. This is what happens when multi national companies take over other then rationalize their supplier. I factory goes bust or 1 factroy is destroyed by a natural catastrophe like a hurricane then the whole work has none. So start using Bioworma and concentrate on only drenching those goats that need it based on the 5 point check or worm egg counts

How much BioWorma do I feed?

The dose for pure BioWorma is very small - 3 grams per 50kg body weight per day.

Measure your dose carefully!

My measure of a heaped teaspoon weighs 5 grams - just right for my Toggenburg girls!

“Can BioWorma be fed to pregnant and lactating animals?”

Yes! It is completely safe because the active ingredient (a natural fungus Duddingtonia flagrans) passes completely through the gastrointestinal tract without being absorbed into the body. It passes out in the manure where it acts to destroy emerging worm larvae.

First up…”What does BioWorma look like, and what sizes does it come in?”

Pure BioWorma is a brownish coloured fine meal. See the image. The texture makes it easy to mix into a daily feed ration.

Sizes available are 2kg resealable bags, 7.5 kg buckets (pictured), and occasionally, 15kg buckets.
