Them: Look at the view!
Me: I wonder how many snakes would be down there?! 🤔😅

But seriously, how stunning is the place I call home, the Sunshine Coast! Quick hike up Mount Ngungun today as the snakes begin to slow down with the cooler weather.

Relax, it’s the weekend! 🐍
This carpet python was in no rush to move on, so we just hung out for a little while like old pals! 😊

My daughter tagged along and helped me by filming this carpet python release in Mountain Creek 🐍

🔊 Just listen to those birds! They can spot a snake well before we do and it happens so often when I’m releasing a snake, like this carpet python.

Birds act as nature’s ultimate alarm system against snakes. When a snake is nearby, you will often hear sudden, loud, and relentless repetitive alarm calls warning their feathery comrades and will even at times harass a snake by swooping until it moves on.

You cannot “snake proof” your yard. There are things that you can do to make it less inviting for them to stay.

I also attended a property to remove a snake the other day, it was sitting right near a “snake repellent” device 🤔

Coastal Carpet Pythons are incredibly beautiful animals! Here are just a few of the different colours and patterns I’ve come across just on the Sunshine Coast 🐍

How would you feel if you woke up with a snake napping next to you? 🫣😅

This juvenile Carpet Python took the opportunity to come in through an open screen door during the night and make itself at home in the bed.

Luckily being non venomous and just a little tacker, no one was in any real danger.

🐍 That feeling when it’s raining and you can’t go outside 😭

Feeling this one today! 🌧️

What’s in the bag….
A big beautiful Carpet Python relocated from a place in Coolum. Even though it’s almost winter, the snakes will still be around. Snakes go through “Brumation” in winter which means they slow down their metabolism and are less active but you will still see them out and about on warmer sunny days catching some rays. Luckily in Queensland it’s reasonably warm all year round 🐍 ☀️
