🐶Our final Groodle baby went home today to the most perfect home🐶
It's been a long few months, a lot of late nights and early mornings, a lot of paper towel and disinfectant, a lot of puppy cuddles, nips and scratches.
Breeding these beautiful babies is honestly an emotional rollercoaster and I'm not one to get emotional.
Oodles are the perfect pups, first generation 'mutts' as pedigree breeders call them, but these guys are bred to avoid all those DNA and genetic issues inherit in purebred dogs.
We enjoy every moment of it, the successful joining and waiting to see if mum shows signs of pregnancy, the tummy changes, ni**le changes, tummy kicks and the exciting XRay and counting the bags of bones. Sleeping next to mums pen for days on end, anxiously waiting for the arrival of 4....6....8...12! Pups
Helping mum deliver each pup, getting the fluid out of a lifeless, limp pup and getting those squeaks and squeals of a new life. Weighing the pups, monitoring temps, weights, noises... Helping mum grow the bones in these new little fluff balls. Feeding mum, cleaning the pen, feedin mum, weighing pups, feeding mum, checking pups are wriggling right, feeding right, growing right....
Changing our family routine to include caring for, nurturing and enjoying the new pups. Cutting back work hours to make sure mum and pups are never alone. Missing out on events and catch-ups to ensure pups are safe. Finishing work and arriving home to have puppy play time, clean up and dinner before unwinding for the day.
It's been a long long long 12 weeks and now we are a bit emotional that it's all over.
Our 12 Groodles have all found beautiful homes to join and we could not be happier but it will take a while to find our new 'normal'.
Our beautiful Nala has worked so hard on her 20 puppies she has had over 2 litters and we have decided she deserves to become a lady of leisure and will have no further litters.
