Looking out to the carpark after finishing her water treadmill swim is beautiful girl Tinky.
Tink is my personal horse, and yes absolutely she gets to reap the benefits of our amazing water treadmill!

Without this tool incorporated into her exercise regime she wouldn't be the horse she is today, helping to increase as well as maintain her core and stabilising muscles (plus sooo much more!) when riding isn't always an option for either of us (chronic pain/injuries).

You too can have a horse who is happy to work, soft and forward to your queues, cross training in our WT is part of that equation.
Buzz me to book in as part of our SALE on atm.

⭐After completing an initial water treadmill swim and then a follow-up bodywork session of red light therapy + ultrasound last week, this is the message I received on how this owners new horse has been going since.
A bodywork session letalone your water treadmill swim doesn't have to be exciting and dramatic to make a huge difference, it's about looking and listening to the small things and treating them appropriately.

Our non-invasive therapies we use at EES are so wonderful that we use them on our own bodies too. 🥰

❔Did you know you can easily book your sessions.online? You don't need to wait til business hours to call and hoping we're available to book you in - you can do it yourself at any time of the day/night on our website! 👌🏽

🐴 HORSE AGISTMENT AVAILABLE 🌱

I’ve got plenty of grass at the moment and plenty more to come over the next few months I'm sure, so I’m offering agistment at a reduced price while the grass lasts!

Could be a great option if you’re wanting to:
- Give your own paddocks a break
- Take some pressure off your property
- Stretch out the grass you have at home
- Give your horses somewhere to go while your own paddocks recover

Rather than letting all the grass go to waste, I’d rather do a good deal on agistment and make it work for everyone. 🌿

This price is for spelling agistment only and does not include use of the facilities at EES.
Facility use can be discussed and easily negotiated into the overall cost if required 😃

💲 150/wk for 3 horses in the one paddock.
💲120/wk for 2 horses in the one paddock
‼️Minimum 8 weeks agistment to get these prices.
💥Special agistment pricing available for the next few months, or until the grass runs out.
🐎🐎🐎 If you have a multitude of horses you'd like to bring them I will work out an even better deal for you!

Veterinary intervention at the soonest moment is paramount to knowing how to move forward with your laminitic/footsore horse.
Once you know the exacts, and your horse is on a good pain management plan, you can then try your supplements etc if required - but before then you're basically just wasting your money that could be used better elsewhere like they have mentioned here.

EES also has specific stables, yards and dry lot paddocks of good size with NO grass in them to help support you with your laminitic/EMS horse (Without having them unnecessarily locked up!!!), whether that is for spelling agistment while you're going on holidays managing them as you do at home, or to help bring them back to good health again (working in conjunction with your vet). We also use non-invasive bodywork modalities that can help improve your horses comfort getting them back on track easier to a happier healthier life.

Send me a message if you need EES help.

The supplement market offers plenty of products aimed at horses with equine metabolic syndrome (EMS).

Their labels may mention insulin sensitivity, metabolism, inflammation or laminitis support. Some ingredients have plausible reasons for being studied.

That still leaves a much more important question unanswered: does this product meaningfully reduce this horse’s risk of laminitis?

Why the trap is so easy to fall into

🔺The promise sounds specific. A product described as “metabolic support” appears to target the problem directly. Yet EMS is not something we can manage by label alone. Insulin dysregulation is the central concern, and we need to know what is happening in the individual horse. A claim about supporting normal metabolism does not tell us whether a horse’s insulin response has improved.

🔺The solution is easy to give. A scoop in the feed feels achievable. Restricting pasture, finding suitable forage, changing turnout arrangements and building a sustainable exercise routine take considerably more work. Ease is valuable, but it should not be mistaken for effectiveness.

🔺The science can sound more certain than it is. An ingredient might affect a metabolic pathway in a laboratory, or show a promising result in a small study. That does not establish that a commercial product prevents laminitis. Magnesium, chromium and cinnamon are commonly discussed in EMS management, but evidence for a reliable clinical benefit remains limited or inconsistent. A mechanism is a reason to investigate a treatment, not proof that it works.

🔺The benefit is difficult to see. A horse may look brighter or grow a shinier coat after a dietary change. Those observations can matter, but they do not tell us whether insulin concentrations are safer. Equally, a horse can appear perfectly comfortable while remaining at high risk. Without testing and follow-up, it is easy to credit a supplement for an improvement we have not measured.

⁉️What deserves the budget first?

For most horses with EMS, the larger gains are likely to come from assessing insulin status, managing the whole diet, addressing excess weight where present and providing regular exercise when the feet are sound. A horse with very high insulin or repeated laminitis may also need veterinary treatment while these changes take effect.

Nutritional supplements have a different role. A horse on a restricted or hay-based diet may need a carefully chosen vitamin and mineral balancer to meet its nutritional requirements. That is a sound reason to supplement. It is different from expecting an “insulin support” powder to compensate for uncontrolled pasture intake.

⚠️ Cost matters too. A month’s supply of a product might instead pay for forage analysis, an insulin test or a review of the management plan. The question is not simply, “Could this supplement help?” It is, “What am I giving up to buy it, and have I addressed the risks that matter more?”

None of this means every supplement is useless. It means each one should earn its place. Ask what outcome it is meant to improve, what evidence supports that claim in horses, and how you will know whether it is helping your horse.

🆘 It is especially worrying when an owner whose horse is showing signs of laminitis is advised to try a supplement. Everyone involved wants to help, but the kindest advice is to call a vet promptly. A horse with suspected laminitis needs pain relief, appropriate hoof support and an assessment of what is causing it. Active laminitis is excruciatingly painful and delaying veterinary treatment just leads to unnecessary suffering.

👉 Laminitis prevention depends on reducing risk before the horse becomes sore. A scoop can be easy to add to the feed. The harder, more valuable work is making sure the plan around it actually reduces the horse’s laminitis risk.
