I'm excited to announce I'm selling in Launceston at IGA Inveresk (53 Invermay Road)

To be honest, I'm skeptical on the food miles.

On one hand I see Tasmania imports a heap of produce we can grow here. From the health perspective it's miles better. Keeps the money in the local economy. Makes better producers, especially if you think outside the box.

We also export a lot of the good stuff. Which I understand is needed in cases, but for me that's a step too far. I don't do this to ship.

Yet here I am. Do I need to? From a business perspective I think it's wise. From a moral perspective, I'm on the fence.

I'm grateful for the opportunity by IGA Inveresk to share what I can, further afield. St Helens will always get the lion's share, and no matter where, I will only sell the best I can produce

If it hasn't been obvious, I love the hunt for a seed. Few glasses on a Friday night & I've got all the seed sites loaded up 😁 There's this eternal feeling there's something else out there.
Last year Rob from sowed the idea of mini capsicum. Went down a rabbit hole & found a guy in north QLD breeding his own in 4 colours. One week before I contacted him, he had already sent some to in Tas.
Hasn't been the best summer to trial a heat loving crop, but it's a cool story, more for the fun of it. Keeps it interesting.
I've only peeled off maybe a dozen bags so far. Plenty of fruit set, just need the warm weather to hang in there 🤞

Strawberry has been unbelievably good lately. I only pick when fully ripe & they're delivered within hours which makes em full of flavour & juice.
I've only been stocking them where they're often sold out daily. Picked fresh everyday, I get the seconds, you get the best

The feel of a new tunnel 😍 Got a few things to fix up but this is my "wind break" tunnel. Left to right cops the worst of it, so there's a bit of experimentation going on in here. Gull wing door just needs some plastic along with some drip and we're done. Thanks for the hand Dad, and the tunnel A and B teams 🙏

Sorry the marketing and packaging team stuffed up this week. I ran out of labels. I ripped into them, it's not professional. The process needs updating.
The reality is there's a bit going on. Will be fixed this week. Thanks for your support 🤠

Tomato flowers & snow pea in the background, what a sight! Always a bit weird in between seasons, last of the winter crop & waiting on summer.
3 or 4 thousand onion for veg boxes have been put in, with friends & kids.
And I see a few found the rocket this week 😅

We've had a fair bit of wind the past week. 2 days ago did an inspection, found the sleeve of the end hoop on a tunnel had found itself on the ground. To fix it properly, you need to pull a lot apart. Of course I went down the rabbit hole of seeing how far I could go 😅

Did a few rounds with some plastic and I just couldn't get the f$ thing back in so..I improvised.

115km/h undid me last year. 95km is the new standard after today. I keep tweaking & learning, many small improvements make a difference but ultimately the #1 thing I've learnt about this gig is resilience.

Hats off to anyone working outside today 😂 Hope you held up ok?
