Did you know cockatoos are as clever as young children or monkeys? They’re real characters—amazing at solving problems and even making tools! But, just like the kids, they can get themselves into a bit of strife. Case in point: a cheeky cocky decided to have a go at soccer, only to end up tangled in the net. Thankfully, WIRES came to the rescue, carefully cutting out the net so we could give the bird a gentle sleep with anaesthetic to remove the rest from its neck and legs. Happy to say our feathered mate is back in the wild, safe and sound!

This does means we will have less consulting slots available so please ensure you book early for routine appointments so you can get your preferred day/time. As always we will have a limited number of same day appointment slots available for any urgent issues, but contacting us sooner rather than later will reduce the chance of missing out.

At our practice, we welcome all beloved pets, regardless of their size or species. Recently, Wally was diagnosed with a cancerous lump. Thanks to Dr Megan’s expertise and careful monitoring, Wally underwent a successful operation and is now tumour-free. We take every precaution to ensure our smaller companions receive the best care possible.

We’re proud to share that our team is filled with remarkable individuals who excel not only in veterinary care but in many other areas of life! Dr. Thoraiya is a published author, Kat serves her community as a firefighter, and Lily just completed her honors degree in Animal Science. Special congratulations to our talented nurse Merin, who took home both her category’s award and the “Best in Show” photograph at the Royal Easter Show this year. What an outstanding achievement—well done, Merin!
