With storms and fireworks season approaching, now is a good time to make sure your pets are prepared. 💙

📱 Check their microchip details are up to date, including your current phone number and address. If your pet does get out during a storm, having up-to-date details gives them the best chance of getting home safely.

💊 Does your pet struggle with storm or noise anxiety? Make sure you have their prescribed medication available before the next storm hits.

☀️🐶 Warming weather = time to think twice about walkies!

As temperatures rise, so does the risk of heat stroke. 🥵

🌡️ When is it too hot to walk?
• Under 20°C: Generally comfortable for most dogs.
• 20–25°C: Use caution, especially with older, overweight, Brachycephalic (flat-faced) or thick-coated dogs.
• 25–30°C: Avoid strenuous exercise and stick to short walks in the coolest parts of the day.
• Over 30°C: Skip the walk!
Keep your dog cool indoors and provide plenty of fresh water.

🌅 The best time for a walk is early morning or later in the evening, when temperatures and pavement are cooler.

💧 Never leave your pet in a parked car, even for a few minutes, and watch for excessive panting, drooling, weakness, vomiting or collapse.

🚨 Heat stroke can be life-threatening.If you think your pet is overheating, cool them with cool (not icy) water and seek veterinary attention immediately.

🐾 When in doubt, leave the walk out! Your pup will forgive you. 😉

Wh***ey popped in to see us recently as her ears had been bothering her. She had a check-up with Dr Emily to get to the bottom of it and make sure those ears were feeling happier! 👂💕

As the weather warms up, ear infections can become more common in our pets, so keep an eye out for scratching, redness, odour or head shaking. 🐶🐱

Today we’re taking a moment to talk about something incredibly important; the mental health of the people behind the care and passion.
Veterinary professionals are passionate about helping animals, but the pressures of the profession can be enormous. Sadly, veterinarians are four times more likely to die by su***de than the general population.
Sophie’s Legacy, an organisation working to make the veterinary industry a safer, healthier place for everyone who works in it, was created in memory of beloved veterinarian Dr Sophie Putland, who tragically died by su***de in 2021.
💛 Our message today is simple: kindness matters.
To our clients and pet families, please remember that we are people too. We care deeply, we work hard, and sometimes we carry more than we realise.
A kind word, a little patience and showing respect can make a bigger difference than you know.
Let’s look after the people who spend their lives looking after our animals. 🐾💛
