Thank you to those who have put their names down for the clinic. To those sitting on the fence we need final numbers by Saturday night please.
We have cattle organised for this clinic and that’s an opportunity that doesn’t come up very often in this area….. trust me!!!!
We need 10 participants to make the first aid costs achievable for ppl so if your keen get on to it!!!!!

We have dates!!!!!!
I apologise in advance to those that these don’t suit, there’s a fair bit going on in the school holidays it seems…….
🌵Tuesday and Wednesday, July 11 & 12 will be the kids clinic…..
Open to ages 8 - 17 years and kids must be able to ride off the lead.
Covering horsemanship, safety, introduction to campdrafting and rules.
Mechanical cow as training aid.
Insurance will be through the Southern Campdraft Association and all riders must be members. Day membership will be available at the event.
Cost is $250 per child for the two days. $50 of this goes towards the club for running costs of the venue.
$100 deposit required to secure your place and the balance will be payable June 30.

Kids will be split into two age groups and will all have a morning and afternoon session both days.

🌵Adults clinic will be Thursday and Friday. July 13 & 14.
Covering horsemanship, exercises to ready you and your horse to complete and an introduction to campdrafting.

All horse and rider levels welcome.
Insurance will be through the SCA and all riders must be members. Day memberships available on the day.
Cost of $350 per person. $50 of this goes to the club for running costs of the venue.

EOI…… A kids clinic to be held at topar Campdraft grounds during the July school holidays. 3rd of July through to the 14th.
Planning to cover general horsemanship, showing and an introduction to campdraft.

Showing off those big hair feels!!!! 💇🏻‍♀️🌸✂️💗
This mare has always had an average tail but our efforts are paying off now.
A friend shared the great idea of wrapping tails to help keep them out of the elements and protected from being pulled out by bushes or mud build up.
Wraps usually last a few months without maintenance. If they do get caught and pulled off it doesn’t damage the tail.
Step 1: wash tail and condition well. Rinse out and allow to dry.
Step 2: apply a detangling spray and brush through.
Step 3: plait tail from just above the dock and secure with a hair tie.
Step 4: cut a fly switch for the end of the tail from hay string about a metre long and double, then tie a loop in the end to feed the plaited tail trough.
Step 5: feed plaited tail through the loop in string fly switch and fold the tail in three. All below the end of your horse’s tail bone.
Step 6: wrap the 3 loops of plaited tail tightly together with a full roll of self adhesive bandage. Eg. vet wrap. Make sure you wrap below the tail bone of your horse so you don’t cut the blood supply off. The tighter you wrap the bandage the better protected the tail hairs are and the wrap will stay in place longer.
Step 7: trim the hay string flay switch to length for your horse. I trie to aim for just above the fetlocks.

So we are back competing and put some beautiful cattle around at the great little Manilla draft.

Twiggy ended up 3rd in the maiden with an 86 and a 77.
Also thank you to The Back paddock creative for the lovely earrings for the highest scoring lady rider.

So nice to be back putting some rides in on these two lovely young mares.
Bay is Nevafail Scrub cat. Sired by Mia Hell Cat and out of El Pascol Ladonna.
Grey is Amarda Consinteen. Sired by Hazelwood Conman and out of Soda Kimberly.
Both 5 years old and starting to be honest and reliable work partners.
