💙 Not every journey starts with a horse happily walking onto the float... and that's okay.
Meet Dice — my beautiful 17 year old boy and one of Hoof & Hitch's biggest teachers. I have owned dice for 8 years. 🥰
This gentle old soul would much rather stay home, eat, and sleep than go on adventures. Dice has never been a fan of travelling. After some difficult experiences in the past as a younger horse, loading became something he found challenging, and he taught me one of the most important lessons in horsemanship...
Every horse has a story. 👂
Transport isn't just about getting from A to B or making a horse load from fear. It's about understanding the horse in front of you, building trust, recognising their worries, and giving them the confidence they need.
Owning a horse like Dice has given me a deeper appreciation for the owners who say, "My horse is difficult to load" or "I'm worried about how they will travel."
I understand that feeling. 🤗
Sometimes it's not about correcting behaviour or training—it's simply about making a horse feel safe, comfortable, and giving them the time they need to build confidence at their own pace.
For Dice, these sessions are about helping him overcome his anxiety gently and positively, so that if a future vet appointment or necessary trip arises, he can face it with less stress and more confidence.
