🚨🚨We’ve been seeing an increase in Parvovirus cases and we want to remind everyone how important vaccination really is!

Parvo is a highly contagious virus that primarily affects puppies and unvaccinated dogs. It can cause severe vomiting, diarrhoea, dehydration, and can become life-threatening in a very short time.

The good news is that Parvo is preventable. Keeping your puppy up to date with their vaccinations is the best way to protect them from this devastating disease.

We’re seeing firsthand the impact Parvo is having on local families, and we’d much rather help prevent this disease than have to treat it.

If you have any questions about your pet’s vaccination schedule or are unsure if they’re protected, give our team a call, we’re always happy to help.

❤️ Vaccination saves lives. Let’s work together to keep our puppies safe.

We have a turtle that urgently needs transport to Broome as soon as possible.

Please contact our clinic as soon as possible by calling 9172 1608 if you think you can help or would like more information.

Thank you to our amazing community for always supporting our wildlife patients. 💚🐢

📢 BIRD NOTICE 📢
Why is this important?
A positive case of Bird flu in our clinic could shut the clinic for 48 hours. Leaving the town of Hedland with out a vet hospital to treat urgent and sick pets.

Please read below!

We can still see birds in the clinic but we need you to call us prior to bringing them in. So we can assess the risk to keep our clinic open and also to keep our staff SAFE!

‼️ REMEMBER ‼️
If you see a wild sick bird- do not touch. Call the helplines for guidance!

A fantastic educational case shared by our clinic.

These images show severe dental disease, including X-rays revealing a jaw fracture caused by infection and bone loss.

This post is shared with owner consent to raise awareness about the importance of dental health in our pets. Often, owners are unaware of how severe dental disease has become, as many pets will continue eating and acting normally despite experiencing significant pain.

The good news is that this patient has now received the treatment and ongoing care needed to relieve their pain and improve their quality of life.

And a little reassurance for pet owners: pets generally adapt incredibly well to having teeth removed - and often feel even better afterwards! 🐾

🚨 URGENT: Bird Flu Detected in Western Australia

Western Australia has now confirmed cases of highly pathogenic avian influenza (bird flu) in wild birds.
This marks a significant and serious wildlife health event, and authorities are actively monitoring the situation.

We ask that you do not bring in any wildlife, pet birds or backyard poultry into the clinic.
📞Please call us first if you have any concerns for you pets health.

While the risk to the general public is still considered low, this is a rapidly evolving outbreak with potential impacts on wildlife, pets, and poultry.

To help prevent spread and protect wildlife:
❌ Do NOT touch or move sick or dead birds
🐦 Keep pets away from birds, wetlands, and carcasses
📍 Report multiple sick or dead birds immediately to DPIRD WA or local authorities
🧼 Wash hands thoroughly after outdoor activity near wildlife areas
🚫 Do not attempt to rescue or handle wildlife without trained support

🧠 Why this matters
Bird flu can spread quickly among bird populations and has caused major wildlife die-offs overseas. Early reporting and strict biosecurity are critical to limiting its impact in Australia.

🐾 Puppy Vaccination Day! 🐾

🐾 Puppy Vaccination Day! 🐾

We had the pleasure of welcoming this adorable litter of Cattle Dog puppies into the clinic today for their first vaccinations and health checks. 💙

💉Vaccinations are an important step in giving puppies the best start in life. One of the most important diseases we vaccinate against is parvovirus, a highly contagious and potentially fatal virus that can spread easily between dogs. Unfortunately, parvovirus remains a common concern here in Hedland, making timely puppy vaccinations essential for protecting your pet and our local dog community.

Our team was delighted to meet these adorable pups and provide them with the preventative care they need to thrive. 🐶
