Ouch! 🌵🐾

This handsome Kelpie pup, Zeus, came to see us after a backyard adventure gone wrong! While playing at home, he unfortunately fell onto a cactus and ended up with a thorn lodged in his carpus (wrist).

Dr Tamath carefully removed the thorn on Tuesday under sedation, and Zeus was an absolute superstar throughout his visit 💛 He’s now on the road to recovery and feeling much more comfortable.
After his procedure, Zeus enjoyed plenty of cuddles and reassurance from our friendly nurses, Dani and Tarsha, who made sure he felt safe, loved and extra spoiled while he recovered 🥰🐶

Cactus thorns and other sharp garden hazards can easily become embedded in paws and joints, which can be painful and lead to infection if not treated promptly. If your pet comes in from outside limping, licking excessively, or showing signs of discomfort, it’s always best to have them checked.

We’re so proud of brave little Zeus 🐶✨ and we can’t wait to see him back to his happy, zoomy self!

If you’re ever unsure about an injury, give our friendly team at Gawler Veterinary Services a call — we’re here to help.

💉 Why Do Vaccination Boosters Matter? 🐶🐱

We often get asked, “Does my pet really need their booster?”
The short answer: yes! 💙

Vaccinations help protect your pet from serious and potentially life-threatening diseases. Over time, that protection can fade — boosters are what top up their immunity and keep them safe.

✔️ Keeps your pet protected
✔️ Helps prevent the spread of disease
✔️ Required for boarding and grooming
✔️ Includes a full health check with our vets

Think of boosters like a shield 🛡️ — regular updates keep it strong.

If your pet is due (or you’re not sure), give us a call or book an appointment. We’re always happy to help! 🐾💙
