⚠️⚠️ IMPORTANT UPDATE ⚠️⚠️
As you may have noticed, the page has been very quiet lately. 2025 was a hard year personally and it was also a year of a lot of changes. Changes that has seen me move to the Mid North Coast 🎉
Whilst I'm excited for the future, I'm sad to say goodbye to my many amazing clients in the Hunter Valley 😢
The future for Transforming K9s will focus a lot on board and trains which will be conducted on our beautiful 98 acre property 😀 I will continue to offer one on one sessions as well as offer my previous clients virtual sessions.

💖 To all my previous clients, I would like to thank you for trusting me with your precious dogs and for allowing me to help you both live a better life together! Remember, I am only a phone call away! I will also be offering any past client a special discount board and train program once I'm up and running!💕

There are a couple of clients who may still have sessions that need to be conducted, so I will be returning to the Valley in the next few weeks if needed. Or, if you prefer, we can do a virtual session whenever you are ready. If you are one of those clients, please get in touch via my personal profile Michelle Black .

🙌🙌 Client Success Celebration 🙌🙌
Something I often tell clients is that "dogs don't lie." Meaning, the dog will immediately tell me if the owner has been putting in the work, or not! 😉
🐶 Meet Trapper, an awesome doggie with awesome owners! Owners who have, without a doubt, been putting in the work! Trapper's progress is proof of that! 🙌
The last time I walked Trapper past these very confrontational dogs, I couldn't even hold my phone to record his reaction! Needless to say, he was very reactive, barking, growling, lunging, the works! His owners couldn't safely walk him due to his reactivity and total lack of leash manners! 😳

I took Trapper through my usual reactivity program, but if the owners hadn't put in the work themselves, then this result would not have been possible!

Not only has Trapper's reactivity towards unfriendly dogs dramatically improved, but he has also gained so much confidence!! Confidence is often an overlooked part of behaviour modification, yet it is crucial for long-term success!

Trapper still has a little way to go, but I'm so very proud of his progress and his owners dedication to him!!

Some great advice from a brilliant trainer! Highly recommend you like their page!

Here’s a quick leadership checklist for all of you owners out there looking to make things as healthy as possible with you and your dog.

You’ll notice there’s no actual obedience training included in this list. This is the stuff we do WITH all of the obedience work that helps shift mindset, attitude, create impulse control, and fosters healthy deferential relationship dynamics.

When you combine this list with all the on and off-leash obedience we do, the duration/mindset work, along with addressing any specific behavior issues — you find yourself with a comprehensive, and deeply effective training/lifestyle program/approach that goes far beyond superficial obedience work.

And while the stuff on this list might seem like tiny, inconsequential, nit-picky stuff, you’d be surprised just how profound of a positive/helpful shift is created by prioritizing and addressing them — and you’d be equally surprised just how profound of a negative/undermining shift is created when they’re dismissed and ignored.

Because these are seemingly benign, “no big deal moments”, I watch owner after owner focus hard on the big and obvious obedience, while they let the profoundly important leadership stuff slip by. And trust me, their relationship and their dog’s overall behavior suffers for it.
