Today was one of the hardest days, as I had to say goodbye to one of my own beloved dogs, Jilly.
My little gang of three doggie amigos is now down to two, and home will just feel so much quieter tonight without her.
As a vet, I’ve helped countless families say goodbye to their much-loved pets. But today, I was reminded just how heartbreaking it is when it’s your own.
One of the biggest reasons I started Fetch the Vet was because I wanted pets to have the opportunity to cross the rainbow bridge peacefully, surrounded by love, familiar smells, their favourite people, and all the comforts of home. Just a gentle, dignified goodbye in the place they’ve always felt safest.
Today, I was grateful to be able to give Jilly that very same gift on her favourite heated bed in the lounge room, with Georgie, Woody, and Bella by her side. ❤️
At Fetch the Vet, we don’t just understand the medical side of saying goodbye. We understand the heartbreak, the tears, the difficult decisions, and the enormous hole they leave behind.
For our pets, we are their whole world. So when the time comes, the very least we can do is make their final moments as peaceful and full of love as possible.
Three doggie amigos, now two. Forever one missing, forever loved. x
