This pupdate will definitely warm your heart ๐Ÿฅน๐Ÿ’›

First adopted from our care in late 2024, Rosie sadly found her way back to us nearly a year later. Thankfully, this super sweet girl didn't have to wait too long in kennels before a very special family came along to meet her. She captured their hearts straight away and now, a year on, she is living the dream life with her doggy brother by her side ๐Ÿฅฐ๐Ÿถ

"In April 2025 my beautiful fourteen year old boy Max whom I adopted as a puppy from the Dogs' Refuge Home passed away. Everybody was sad and my other dog Jet seemed to be finding it hard. A few months passed and we decided it was time to adopt a new family member so we headed back to the Refuge to find a new fur
baby and that's when we met Rosie.

We didnโ€™t realise it at the time but Rosie had been returned to the shelter on Jet's first birthday. When we brought Jet up to meet Rosie the two dogs became instant friends. Jet had a look of pure joy on his face and it was the happiest I had seen him in weeks. Rosie arrived in Jet's life like an extra special belated birthday present.

I always remember the car ride home from the shelter with Rosie as one of the most serene and uplifting moments of my life. Rosie sat so peacefully on the back seat of the car, calmly looking through the window at the beach. She kept reaching her head forward giving my husband and me gentle kisses as if she was saying thank you for choosing me.

When we arrived home the fun really started. I filled up the paddle pool as the shelter staff had told me to make sure that Rosie always has water available to play in as it is her way of coping when overwhelmed. The two dogs ran around the back yard doing excited zoomies and Rosie kept alternating between digging in the water, running through the garden and jumping up on everyone. By the end of it we were all covered in mud and I must confess for a moment thinking what on earth have I gotten myself into! This lasted about three days after which I am glad to say they did calm down a bit.

I think it would be impossible to be unhappy with Rosie in your life. She has an excited howl that she lets out when she is really happy which is every morning when I get up, every time I come home, walkie time, meal time, when visitors come over and at other numerous times during the day. It makes me laugh every time.

The dogs love to play chase and tug together and run zoomies around the yard. At nearly 60 kilos Jet weighs twice as much as Rosie. He is stronger but she is much faster so it is interesting to watch them play. They will often play tug with a toy. Rosie will pull with all her might. Jet will stand still barely putting in any effort. Sometimes he will even take a few steps forward as if to humour her. Then he will effortlessly walk backwards dragging Rosie along with him. Eventually one of them will manage to get hold of the toy which will set off a game of chase and some quick zoomies. This usually only lasts a few minutes before they both lay down to rest some more.

Rosie really loves her morning walk. She will keep running to the front door and back until she has been walked every morning After that she settles down for the day and seems to spend most of the day snoozing. On the weekends I like to take her on longer more interesting walks to places such as local bush areas and to some of the nearby lakes. It hasnโ€™t always been easy walking Rosie as sometimes her enthusiasm can be a little bit too much for some people. She still has a lot to learn but she has definitely improved. She has made some dog and human friends out on her walks. She seems to love everybody she meets.

Rosie has a way of staring deep into your eyes as if she is looking right into your soul. She is one of the best cuddlers I have ever known and loves nothing more than to snuggle up with you. The two dogs each have an inside bed and an outside bed but it is not uncommon to find them curled up together sharing the same bed. Rosie now also has a pink collar with roses on it because I believe any dog named Rosie deserves a collar with roses. She also still loves to dig and splash in her paddle pool though now I think it is usually just for fun.

Rosie has filled a missing place in our family and brought happiness back into our lives. In a short time she has already become a special part of our family. She is quirky and funny and most of all loving. Despite her often boisterous behaviour she can also be very gentle at times. I still miss my Max and always will. No dog will ever replace him and I really wouldnโ€™t want them to, but Rosie with her own unique and loving personality has earned a special place in my heart.

I am forever grateful to the Dogs' Refuge Home for giving Rosie a second and a third chance and for helping all of the other dogs who come through their door each year. I hate to think of what would become of these dogs otherwise. The world is a better place because shelters like the Dogs' Refuge Home exist. I feel honoured to have been given the privilege of taking care of Rosie. I never understand why so many people pay so much money for dogs from breeders when the shelters are filled with so many amazing dogs that really need our help. They say that rescue is the best breed and I believe they also give the best cuddles. Thank you all so much."

Thank you so much to Rosie's family for this absolutely beautiful pupdate. She has certainly struck gold with you all ๐Ÿ’›โœจ

"If you want true love, get a dog" - Dolly Parton ๐Ÿถ๐Ÿฉท

The day these two gorgeous unnamed pooches came into our care, we sadly learnt of Dolly Parton's passing and we knew we needed to take the opportunity to give them special, meaningful names in her honour. Throughout her life, Dolly was a dedicated advocate for neglected and homeless dogs, supporting rescue shelters and using her platform to encourage animal adoption. It's strong, compassionate women like her that inspire us to do what we do every day.

Dolly and Parton came into our care on the same day but not together as a bonded pair. They are now available for adoption and looking for separate homes:

Dolly is a pretty, sweet and goofy 1.5 year old hound girl looking for an active family who can help her blossom into the perfect adventure buddy and beloved family companion she longs to be ๐Ÿฅน

A food loving, snuggle craving 3 year old large mixed breed, handsome gentleman Parton is eager to find a home where he can learn and explore with his favourite people by his side ๐Ÿฅฐ

Aren't our Mr Enthusiast Litter pups absolutely gorgeous?! ๐Ÿถ๐Ÿ’™

Sponsored by the wonderful team at Mr Enthusiast - New Homes By Nik, these pups are named after their staff! ๐Ÿคฉ After generously sponsoring our Quiz Night in July, the team wanted to do more to help and asked if they could sponsor a litter of puppies. Their sponsorship has contributed to funding the care of these little ones while they wait for their forever homes and we are so grateful for their support. ๐Ÿฅน

These precious medium mixed breed pups will be ready to go home with their new families next Saturday, 12th September, when they turn 8 weeks old. Playful, silly pups, they are best suited to living with kids aged 8 and up and would benefit from living with doggy siblings they can learn from ๐Ÿถ

Swipe to the end of the photos to see their super cute mumma Lily ๐Ÿฅฐ

Before applying, please remember puppies are a 12+ year commitment and they will need plenty of company, positive training and lots of love as they settle in and grow ๐ŸŒฑ

If you are confident you are ready to welcome one of these bundles of joy into your life, enquire via the steps below:
1๏ธโƒฃ Fill out the adoption questionnaire: https://www.dogshome.org.au/adoption-questionnaire/ and make sure to put โ€œMr Enthusiast Litter" in the "Name of Dog Interested In" section.

Whoever adopts Tilly should count themselves the LUCKIEST people of 2026 ๐Ÿคฉ

In our eyes, this special girl is truly pawfect! ๐Ÿ˜ A big, snuggly 36kg lap dog, Mastiff mix Tilly isn't just a cutie pie, she's also easy going, beautifully mannered and a whole lot of fun. She has a delightfully playful streak and makes sure to take her favouite squeaky ball absolutely everywhere with her. ๐Ÿถ

When tested with other doggies here at the Refuge she was able to make walking friends but she'd be happiest going home as a solo dog so she can have all the love and attention to herself, just as she deserves ๐ŸŒŸ๐Ÿ’›

Visit us now to meet Tilly, you won't regret it! ๐Ÿพ
