Did you know that anxiety is not just a human condition — our pets can experience it too.

Common signs include:
• Excessive barking or meowing
• Destructive behaviour
• Pacing or restlessness
• Hiding or withdrawal
• Changes in appetite

Triggers can range from separation and loud noises to changes in routine or environment.

If you notice these signs, early support makes a big difference. Simple steps like maintaining a consistent routine, providing enrichment, and creating a safe space can help. In some cases, behavioural training and medication may be needed.

Concerned about your pet? Reach out —we’re here to help them feel safe and secure.

🐾 Vaccinations 💉

Does my pet need yearly vaccinations?
Yes—immunity decreases over time. Protection against diseases like kennel cough may not last beyond 12 months, so annual boosters are important to maintain protection.

What if my pet is overdue for vaccinations?
If it has been a while since your pet’s last vaccine, we typically recommend two doses given one month apart. This helps “remind” the immune system how to respond effectively and ensures your pet regains full protection.

🐾 Vaccinations 💉

Can I take my puppy out after one vaccine?
We recommend waiting 10–14 days after the final vaccination before allowing your puppy to fully explore public areas. This gives their immune system time to respond and build protection.

Safe socialisation is still important! Puppy preschool is a great option, as all attending puppies are vaccinated. We do not recommend dog parks, beaches, or other high-risk areas until vaccinations are complete.

🐾 Vaccinations 💉

Why do we start vaccines at a young age?
Puppies and kittens are born with an immature immune system. After birth, they receive maternal antibodies from their mother’s milk, which help protect them early in life.

However, these antibodies gradually break down over time and can interfere with how vaccines work. The timing of this decline varies between individual pets, so to cover them when they are becoming vulnerable, we recommend a series of vaccinations to ensure they develop strong, reliable immunity.

🐾 W O R L D V E T D A Y 🐾

With yesterday being World Vet Day, today feels like the perfect moment to celebrate the people who make our clinic what it is — not just for the care they give, but for who they are every single day.

✨ Dr Michael – our practice owner and senior vet. With his vast knowledge and years of experience, he’s the backbone of our clinic… and his jokes (whether we’re ready for them or not!) are what truly make the place feel whole.
✨ Dr Elyse – a trusted presence for our team and our clients. She brings a deep pool of experience and knowledge to every case, and a calm confidence that reassures so many of our clients.
✨ Dr Kayla – incredibly skilled and intelligent, with a quiet strength that speaks volumes. She may be softly spoken, but the care, precision, and dedication she brings are nothing short of powerful.
✨ Dr Morgan – our new grad, already finding her feet and making her mark. Her enthusiasm, kindness, and willingness to learn remind us all why we love what we do.

We see the long days, the tough cases, the compassion, and the care that goes into every decision you make. You aren’t just great vets — you’re great humans.

Join us in saying thank you to our wonderful vet team 💕

🕯 L E S T W E F O R G E T 🕯

This ANZAC Day, we pause to remember and honour the courage, sacrifice, and resilience of all who have served. Among them were the animals who stood beside our soldiers and who played vital roles in times of conflict.

Today, we remember them too.

PLEASE NOTE: Our clinic will be closed on ANZAC Day.
Emergency veterinary services will still be available if needed — please call our usual number for assistance.

Lest we forget. ❤️🐾

🐾 Vaccinations 💉

One of the most important things you can do when bringing home your new puppy, kitten, or rescued pet is ensuring they are vaccinated! This not only protects them, but also helps protect other pets in the community.

What do vaccinations cover?

Canine C5 protects against:
• Parvovirus
• Distemper
• Adenovirus (hepatitis)
• Parainfluenza
• Bordetella bronchiseptica

Feline F3 protects against:
• Feline panleukopenia virus
• Feline herpesvirus
• Feline calicivirus

What vaccine schedule do we recommend?
• 1st vaccination (6–8 weeks): C3 / F3
• 2nd vaccination (10–12 weeks): C5 / F3
• 3rd vaccination (16+ weeks): C3 / F3
• Followed by an annual booster

Big Cattie made himself very comfortable during his visit — enjoying a tasty Churu while keeping a close eye on proceedings 👀🐱

While nurse Cassie was busy writing up notes, Big Cattie took it upon himself to supervise… and possibly pass a little judgement 😅

Safe to say, he was quite pleased with the service (and the snacks). 💚
