Today we say farewell to two valued members of the SEH team, Dr James Manley & Dr Victoria Leeman as they embark on exciting new chapters in their veterinary careers.

James first joined Scone Equine Hospital as a 12 month Rotating Intern before progressing into a Surgery and Anaesthesia Fellowship. We are delighted that he has been offered an Equine Surgery Residency at the University of Queensland.

Victoria has been an integral part of our team over the past 12 months as a Rotating Intern. We are equally thrilled to congratulate her on being offered an Equine Surgery Residency through REC Equine Specialists and Charles Sturt University.

We thank them both for their contributions to our hospital, clients, and patients, and wish them every success as they take the next steps in their careers. We look forward to following your future achievements.

This week, we celebrate a CT milestone after completing 2️⃣0️⃣0️⃣ CT scans.

Since introducing standing CT technology, advanced imaging has become an invaluable tool in diagnosing a wide range of conditions affecting equine athletes and pleasure horses alike. The ability to obtain detailed 3D images helps our veterinarians make more accurate diagnoses and develop targeted treatment plans. 🐴

Although uncommon, fractures of the distal phalanx can be a significant cause of lameness.

In February, Dr Nic Bimson performed a CT-guided internal fixation to repair a type III distal phalanx (P3) fracture. Using advanced imaging, the fracture was assessed in detail, allowing for precise planning and accurate screw placement.

CT guidance plays a key role in improving surgical accuracy and outcomes, helping our patients return to soundness as safely and efficiently as possible. 🙌

We treat horses of all sizes... 🐴

This week, Dr Archie Macpherson alongside Fellow Dr James Manley & Intern Dr Victoria Leeman performed a lameness evaluation on this miniature pony. It stole the hearts of many team members around the hospital!

As part of the work-up, a thorough clinical examination was performed, including a trot-up and flexion tests, along with diagnostic imaging using ultrasound and radiography to help identify the source of the lameness.
