No time for Dad jokes! Emus take fatherhood seriously.

They can go nearly two months without leaving the nest to eat, drink or even relieve themselves while they incubate their eggs.

Once their chicks hatch, they’ll spend another five to seven months fiercely protecting them – raising whatever chicks hatch in their nest, whether they sired them or not. They’ll even welcome lost chicks from other broods into their group!

It's "birds of a feather," not "birds of a father"! 🪶👨‍🍼

Beets are a colorful, nutrient-dense vegetable that can be a healthy addition to your parrot’s fresh food rotation when offered properly.

Beets most commonly come in that deep purple-red color, but they also come in a beautiful golden variety. Both are parrot-safe and offer similar nutritional benefits.

❤️ Why beets are beneficial for parrots:

✔️ Folate (Vitamin B9) – supports cell growth and tissue repair
✔️ Vitamin C – supports the immune system
✔️ Potassium – supports muscle and nerve function
✔️ Fiber – aids digestion
✔️ Rich in antioxidants that support overall wellness

🥗 Serving tips:

• Offer raw (finely chopped or shredded) or lightly steamed
• Beet greens are also safe and nutritious
• Feed in moderation — they are naturally higher in sugars. I usually add a 2 or 3 to my batch for the whole week for the flock of 40+.
• Expect pink/red droppings after feeding (totally normal!)

Beets add vibrant color, enrichment, and powerful nutrients to a
