To start off the scary season... we are loosing one of our best nurses 😭

Wishing our wonderful Caoimhe the very best of luck as she leaves us to embark on an exciting new chapter at a Specialist Veterinary Clinic! 🐾💙
Caoimhe will be dearly missed by the whole team, but we couldn’t be more excited to see where this next adventure takes her. 🐾💗 HAPPY VET NURSE DAY! 💗🐾
9 October 2026

Today at My Own Vet, we’re celebrating the incredible humans who somehow manage to wear ALL the hats! 👩‍⚕️👨‍⚕️🎩
Because being a vet nurse isn’t just being a nurse…
💊 Pharmacist – dispensing medications and somehow remembering who gets what!
📞 Receptionist – answering phones, booking appointments and keeping everyone organised.
🩻 Radiographer – getting that perfect X-ray while contorting into positions humans weren’t designed for! 😂
😴 Anaesthetist – watching every breath, heartbeat and beep like a hawk.
🧹 Cleaner – because bodily fluids have a mysterious way of appearing EVERYWHERE!
🦷 Dental Assistant – scaling, polishing and making those pearly whites sparkle. ✨
🏥 Hospital Nurse – caring for our sickest patients with skill, patience and endless love.
🐕 Dog Walker – because sometimes a patient just needs a little stroll and some fresh air.
🐾 Kennel Hand – feeding, cleaning, comforting and making sure everyone feels safe and loved.
And that’s just the beginning! They’re also animal wranglers, cuddle specialists, professional treat dispensers, shoulder to cry on, and sometimes even therapist to worried humans! 😂❤️

Vet nurses are the heart of every veterinary hospital. They work incredibly hard, often behind the scenes, and give so much of themselves to our patients, their families and our team.
So today, we want to say THANK YOU. 🥰
Thank you for the long days, the late nights, the messy jobs, the difficult cases, the endless cuddles and for advocating for patients who can’t speak for themselves.

To our amazing My Own Vet nurses — we see you, we appreciate you, and we are incredibly lucky to have you. ❤️🐾
You may wear a million hats, but today we’re calling you what you really are…
SUPERHEROES! 🦸‍♀️🦸‍♂️🐶🐱

Happy Vet Nurse Day! 💗

🐾 Meet Benny! The little fighter with the BIGGEST personality! 🐾

Benny came to see us for a second opinion after being attacked by another dog. His wound had initially been repaired elsewhere, but unfortunately, it had broken down. 😔

After discussing all the options with Mum, she chose to allow Benny’s wound to heal by second intention — meaning we let his amazing body do the healing naturally rather than surgically closing the wound again.

But this kind of healing takes time, patience and A LOT of TLC… and Benny’s Mum absolutely nailed it. ❤️

Every three days, Benny would come in religiously for a bandage change, and Mum worked incredibly hard to keep his wound clean, his bandage in place and Benny rested between visits.

And then there was Benny himself… 🥹

When he first arrived, he was understandably pretty worried about the vet hospital. But with plenty of gentle handling, reassurance and, of course, a suspiciously large number of treats, Benny slowly learned that coming through our doors wasn’t so scary after all.

By the end of his treatment, our once-nervous little man was happily trotting through the clinic for his bandage changes like he owned the place! 🥰

Safe to say, somewhere along the way, the whole team fell completely in love with this brave little guy. 💙

Benny is a wonderful example of just how incredible the animal body is. Not every wound needs to be surgically closed — sometimes, with the right wound management, time and a very dedicated Mum, the body can do some pretty amazing things. ✨

We are SO proud of Benny and his incredible recovery! 🐶❤️

🚨 FOUND DOG – KOOKABURRA PARK, ROCKLEA 🚨

Well… someone clearly decided he was perfectly capable of taking himself for a little stroll! 🐾😂

This absolute cutie was found wandering around Kookaburra Park and is now safely hanging out with us at My Own Vet. ❤️

He is a stunning tan, entire male Bull Mastiff. Unfortunately, he wasn’t wearing a collar and doesn’t have a microchip, so we’re hoping the power of social media can help us track down his family! 🏡💕

We’ve also noticed a couple of health concerns that we’d really love to chat with his parents about, so we’re especially keen to get him reunited with his people as soon as possible.

📍 My Own Vet
1/233 Evans Road, Salisbury QLD 4107

We’re open until 6pm tonight and back from 8am tomorrow.

If we can’t locate his owners, we will unfortunately need to contact Council, as we close at 4pm Saturday.

👉 Please share, share, SHARE! His family could be looking everywhere for their very adventurous boy! 🐶❤️

If you recognise him or know his family, please contact My Own Vet ASAP.

💛 Following on from Su***de Prevention Week & R U OK? Day…

We bring you something far more important…

✨ THREE QUEENS.
✨ ONE TikTok.
✨ ABSOLUTELY ZERO DIGNITY. 👑💃😂

Just two of our fabulous nurses and one very brave practice owner putting their dignity aside to hopefully brighten your day! 🤣

Because sometimes you don’t need a deep and meaningful conversation… sometimes you just need to dance badly with your workmates and have a good laugh. 🕺💃

So if today has been a bit 🫠… here’s your sign to have a little boogie. 💛

R U OK?
And if not… perhaps TikTok dancing is the answer. 😂🐾
