Riverfire is lighting up Brisbane tonight from 5pm! While it's an exciting night for us, it can be incredibly stressful for our furry family members. 🐶🐱

🚁 With low-flying jets and booming fireworks, pets can become anxious, frightened, or even run away, trying to escape the noise.

💡 Heading out tonight? Please take a few minutes to prepare your pets before you leave. Here's how to keep them safe and calm:

✅ Keep pets indoors in a quiet, secure room
✅ Close windows, curtains and turn on the TV or music to mask noise
✅ Provide familiar bedding and toys for comfort
✅ Never leave pets alone outside
✅ Make sure ID tags and microchip details are up to date
✅ Use calming aids or prescribed anxiety medications if needed

🚨 If your pet goes missing – or you find someone else’s – please call the RSPCA QLD Lost & Found team on 1300 363 736 and notify your local council.

Sometimes vet med is hard, exhausting and emotionally draining. 🥹💗

So, Dr Ahmed is trialling some new ways to keep the team happy… and we think he may have absolutely NAILED this one. 😂🐶

We call it the “Puppy Therapy Lounge”, or better known as The “I Can’t Go Back to Work Yet” Couch. 😂🛋️🐾

Because honestly, when you’ve got two puppies on the couch, how could your spirits not be lifted?! 🥰

🦷✨ Why are dental X-rays so important for your pet? ✨🦷

Did you know that a large part of your pet’s tooth is hidden beneath the gumline? 👀

Even when those pearly whites look nice and clean from the outside, there can be problems hiding underneath — including damaged roots, infection, bone loss and teeth that may need to be removed. 🦷💔

That’s why dental X-rays are such an important part of a thorough dental procedure. They allow our vets to see what’s happening below the gumline and make sure we aren’t missing painful problems that simply can’t be seen during a visual examination.

🐶🐱 A clean-looking tooth doesn’t always mean a healthy tooth!

If your pet is having a dental procedure, ask your vet about dental X-rays. Your pet deserves a healthy smile from the crown to the root! 💕🦷

Did you know brushing your pet’s teeth is one of the best ways to help prevent plaque, tartar and dental disease? 🪥✨

A few tips to get started:

🐶 Start with a fresh slate – brushing works best when you’re starting with clean, healthy teeth. If your pet already has tartar, a professional dental clean may be needed first.
🪥 Start slowly – let them get used to you touching their mouth before introducing the toothbrush.
🥰 Keep it positive – praise, cuddles and treats can make brushing a much happier experience!
📅 Be consistent – a little brushing regularly is better than a big battle once in a blue moon!

Some days in vet med absolutely fill your cup... and others break your heart. ❤️

Little Leo came to us after a truly horrific dog attack. He fought so incredibly hard to stay with us, and our amazing team stayed well past closing time, performing emergency surgery until 8pm that night, determined to give him every chance.

With every recheck, our hopes grew a little brighter. Watching Leo heal, wag his tail, and eventually start pulling on his lead because he couldn't wait to race out the back and visit his favourite nurses and vets was something we'll never forget. 🥹🐾

Last week, Leo and his wonderful mum surprised us with this beautiful card. Moments like these mean more than words can say.

Vet medicine can be exhausting, emotional, and sometimes incredibly tough. But patients like Leo remind us exactly why we do what we do. Watching them get a second chance, seeing them happy and healthy again, and knowing we've been a small part of their journey... that's what makes every late night, every tear, and every challenge worth it. ❤️

Thank you, Leo and family, for trusting us with your beautiful boy. Give him the biggest cuddle from all of us. 💙🐶
