Did you know we offer Ultrasound Services at MustCare Vet Centres Compton Road! ๐Ÿพ

We are fortunate enough to work with the fabulous Dr Tasmiya from GP Pet Ultrasound, who visited our Compton Road clinic to perform an abdominal ultrasound on sweet Roxy the Maltese cross ๐Ÿถ

Dr Tasmiya also took the time to share her knowledge and educate Dr George on all things abdominal ultrasound, making it a fantastic opportunity for learning, collaboration, and continuing to grow our skills to provide the best possible care for our patients. ๐Ÿฉป

A big thank you to Dr Tasmiya for sharing her expertise, and to Roxy for being such a brave patient! ๐Ÿงก

๐Ÿพ PET HEALTH EXPLAINED

โ€œHow do I know if my senior pet is still having more good days than difficult ones?โ€

This can be one of the hardest questions to answer.
Especially because there often isn't one big moment that tells you things have changed.
Instead, it can be lots of little things.

They don't finish breakfast anymore.
Getting up takes a little longer.
They've stopped following you from room to room.
Walks are shorter.
They sleep more.
They seem unsettled at night.
Or they simply don't seem to enjoy the things they once did.

None of these things on their own necessarily means your pet has a poor quality of life.

What matters is the bigger picture โ€” and whether their days are changing.

It can help to pay attention to things like comfort, appetite, movement, sleep, toileting, interaction with the family and whether they still show interest in the things they enjoy.

And because these changes can happen gradually, keeping a simple note of good days and difficult days can sometimes make a pattern easier to see.

You don't have to work this out on your own.

If you're wondering whether something is ageing, pain, illness, or simply a change that needs a little more support, talk to your vet.

Sometimes there are things we can do to make an older pet much more comfortable.

And sometimes the conversation becomes about what comfort and quality of life look like from here.

Either way, your observations at home matter enormously.

๐Ÿ’œ Caring for pets. Supporting their people.

TICK SEASON IS OFFICIALLY HERE ๐Ÿฉธ

Paralysis tick cases are beginning to surg across Brisbane and surrounding suburbs, with multiple cases already presenting to our Compton Road clinic!

If you are taking your pets exploring areas with bushland or long grass or even your own backyard, a few simple habits can make an important difference.

Check your pet thoroughly every day and ensure their flea and tick prevention is up to date.

Know the signs of tick paralysis (change in bark/meow, wobbly legs, abnormal breathing) and act quickly if something does not seem right. If you think you may have found a tick on your pet, or you are concerned about any symptoms, please call us immediately.

Worried your pet isnโ€™t up to date? Speak with our team about the most appropriate preventative for your pet, prevention is always better than treatment!

Sometimes you need to book your pet in.

Sometimes you get home from an appointment and remember the question you meant to ask.

Sometimes you want to check when your pet is due next.

And sometimes itโ€™s 8pm when you remember you were meant to call us.

Weโ€™ve been thinking a lot about how we can make those everyday parts of caring for your pet a little easier.

So weโ€™d like to introduce you to Chckvet.

Chckvet is an online portal that gives MustCare clients another way to connect with us from their phone.

You can use it to book appointments, access information about your pet and communicate with our team without always needing to pick up the phone.

And we think that last part matters.

Chckvet isnโ€™t there to put technology between you and the people caring for your pet.

It does the opposite.

It gives you another way to reach them.

Of course, there will always be times when calling us is best particularly if your pet is unwell or you think something may be urgent.

But for all those everyday moments?

We want reaching your MustCare team to feel simple.

Because good veterinary care isnโ€™t only about what happens in the consult room.

Itโ€™s also about making it easier for you to care for your pet once you go home. ๐Ÿ’œ

๐Ÿพ Weโ€™ll be sharing more over the next few weeks about Chckvet and the different ways you can use it.
