It is after much soul searching that we at Noah’s Bark have reached the decision that we are ceasing to operate.

As we are sure you can all appreciate, rescue is a full time commitment, one that once you have committed it becomes your life, every day, year in year out. After 15 years it is time to retire from rescue.

We have been so privileged to be able to be in the position as a rescue group to help save, rehabilitate and rehome so many beautiful souls.
The breeding establishment mothers who came to us traumatised, terrified and so lost. The elderly dogs that lost their elderly owners. Families for whatever reason that could no longer look after their pet. All of these above mentioned souls from very different backgrounds shared one thing in common - the need to find love either for the first time in their lives or a forever home that would offer them a second chance of being loved and feeling safe again.
We can’t express enough our thanks and our appreciation for the support and help we have been given over the years.
Thank you SO much to everyone that has donated in one way or another - you have all contributed to helping save so many lives and make such a difference to those precious lives.
Next we would like to extend our immense gratitude to all our foster carers that have looked after their rescue fosters like one of their family members until the time has arrived for them to start their new beginning in their forever home (or they have became ‘failed foster carers’ and their fosters have officially became family 🥰).
This takes us to our wonderful adopters who have completed the dream by opening their hearts and their homes to our beautiful rescues. Thank you all from the bottom of our hearts ❤️❤️
A huge thank you to our vet clinics over the years that have worked with us and shown so much care and compassion.
Thank you to our amazing committee - Penny, Fiona, Tanya, Jacinda, Peter and Loree for all their help, support and dedication over the years.

Last but not least another thank you that must be added is to Matt.
He started his own little rescue, took me on board to help out with calls etc and well - the rest is history.
His compassion and dedication to helping animals is what started these wheels turning - and ultimately helped more souls than we ever could have imagined. ( and it gave me the chance to live out my passion of helping animals).

Our remaining funds will be donated to a couple of
like minded rescues of our choice.

Could we please ask if you have set up a direct debit with your bank if you could please contact them to discontinue the payments. Thank you.

Warmest wishes from
Caroline and the Noah’s Bark Team

LONG OVERDUE UPDATE ON MISS MANDY
- BUT IT’S ALL GOOD NEWS 👏🥰❤️🐶❤️

Mandy certainly has had Mum Fiona stressed to the max but we’re happy to report that her little poppet has regained her outgoing diva personality and all in her little kingdom is back to normality 👑👑🏰🏰

Last we mentioned Mandy was being medically monitored and that seemed to be going okay until
mid October when she again took a turn for the worse, her bloods were back up again and she was immediately admitted into Southpaws Specialty Surgery for Animals for a CT and possible emergency surgery. On inspection of the scan however there was no rupture of the gallbladder so she was booked in the very next morning to have her gallbladder removed.
Surgery went well and Mandy was monitored closely for the next few days and treated like a little princess by the amazing staff.
After Mandy got the final tick of approval that all was well she just couldn’t wait to get back to Mum Fiona and family - and of course back into her prime position in Mum’s bed 🥰

STARR - THERE ARE NO GOODBYES - WHEREVER YOU ARE YOU’LL BE IN OUR HEARTS ALWAYS 💔❤️

It is with great sadness we share the news that Starr made her final journey across the 🌈 bridge last Thursday.
We did an update on Starr on the 14th of October where we shared the story of how this adorable little poppet came to be adopted by her amazing Mum and Dad.
You have left us with many memories Starr ❤️❤️

From myself and the Noah’s Bark team we would like to convey our deepest sympathies to Nick and Kelly who are broken hearted over the loss of their beautiful little girl. 💕💕
Here is Nick and Kelly’s beautiful tribute to Starr

Farewell Starr - we’re totally heartbroken.
On Thursday night she came in from the garden and sat down in front of us - something wasn’t right. Over the next 36 hours she got worse, improved, then deteriorated again. She raised our hopes briefly but in the end, age and illness got the better of her.

In the past, she’d bounce back from any setback with a strength and determination that belied her tiny body. We thought we were going to lose her 18 months ago and then again early this year; but with her trademark obsession to be by my side AT ALL TIMES, she’d fight and eventually get back to some form of normal. This time it was just too much for her.

At times like this, you search for significance and it’s interesting that she’s gone as we emerge from lockdown. I like to think she’s hung around to help us through but took her leave when the time came. As dog owners, we think we look after them but really, it’s them that often take care of us.

Those who know us well know the story behind how she came to live with us permanently. She initially came as a foster but quickly decided that she wanted to remain forever. Elvis and her became more than great mates, they became part of each other. They dovetailed in routines where one would do something and the other would finish it; each action by one initiating a reaction in the other. Memories like this bring a smile to my face as I think of them.

In the coming weeks, that’s what we’ll have; flashbacks to warm memories of a life of happiness and devotion. We all had a role in every micro-routine of family life and now, as each one begins there will be a pause as we get to Starr’s part - we’ll acknowledge that before carrying on, eventually that wrinkle will get ironed into something else. Accumulated and unforgotten but just part of life.
We’ll miss her so much. We’ll miss the way that first thing in the morning she rolled around in bed down by our feet, straightening the hair on her face with her paws and spluttering as she got ready to wriggle up between us. We’ll miss it when we get up from the sofa to grab something and she immediately jumps off to follow us, even if we’re just going to the other side of the room. Most though, I’ll miss laying on the floor just gazing at each other while we have a bit of chat.

Thanks Starr. You came into our lives and were the perfect part of our family jigsaw that we didn’t know we missed. We’ll always miss your piece now though - and because of that, we’ll treasure that piece more than anything.

❤️ ‘SUGAR’ ❤️ FOREVER IN OUR HEARTS

We received the very sad news a couple of weeks ago that Sugar, the most adorable, sweet, brave little girl had taken her final journey across the 🌈 bridge.
When Sugar came to us she had such a badly infected eye it had to be removed immediately. The specialists then discovered that her other eye also had a degenerative condition and extremely limited vision (only shadows really) so it was decided to remove that eye also which would not only alleviate any ongoing pain etc but as strange as it sounds, Sugar would then concentrate on using her other senses rather than try to put all her focus into seeing through the existing eye which would only be a blur.
Robbie and Trevor contacted us and said they would love to foster this senior citizen (Sugar was 11 years when she came into the Noah’s Bark family).
We knew right there and then that she would have the most amazing foster home - and of course we secretly kept our fingers 🤞🏻🤞🏻that just maybe this would be more than a stepping stone.
Robbie and Trevor - well what can we say - hearts of pure gold ❤️ and Sugar became THE luckiest little girl in THE best forever home.

On behalf of all of us at Noah’s Bark we would like to send our deepest condolences to this amazing couple for giving Sugar six wonderful years filled with love. Thank you Robbie and Trevor from the bottom of our hearts 💕💕

Here are some lovely words from Mum Robbie.

In 2015 a photo popped up on Noah's Bark FB page of a little Fox Terrier X who was looking for a foster home. She had just had her 2nd eye removed. Trevor and I had two 14 year old brothers Rocky and Bucky that we adopted through Noah's Bark and we knew that they would be gentle with this little blind girl so the process started.
We brought Sugar home and immediately the boys thought she was better than sliced bread, they would walk one on either side of her and within two days Sugar was coming in and out of the doggie door. Needless to say we gained the titles of ‘failed foster parents’ and a month later to our delight we adopted our little Sugar.
Initially when Sugar would get lost in the garden - she had a very different bark when this happened - within seconds of her barking one of the boys would jump up and moments later Sugar was back through the doggie door.
Sugar would chase a ball which had a bell inside, For months when she entered a room we would say over and over ‘you’re in the kitchen’ or ‘you’re in the bedroom’ and before we picked her up we'd say ‘touching’.
Sugar was the most amazing little girl.
Our Rocky died in 2017 and his brother Bucky in 2018. Thankfully she carried on like a real trouper.
In 2020 she was diagnosed with dementia and she had to wear nappies. Earlier this year she started to loose weight, her bloods came back normal and her eating /drinking habits didn't change.
In the last couple of months her little legs started to give way and she found standing / walking very difficult.
We sadly said our goodbyes on 9th October, our hearts and home are empty, we wouldn't have changed one single day, we miss our babies so very much.

At Noah’s Bark as you know we LOVE updates on our adopted rescues.
Starr was adopted by her foster carers Nick and Kelly in September 2014 and she also gained a brother, Elvis who is her absolute BF.
Now - we know you mustn’t have favourites and ALL our rescues have been very special to us but …..
Starr has a special history with us - for myself - I think she made me age about 10 years in a week !!
Our girl had gone on trial to her new home - but she had other ideas - call it corny but we’re sure Starr had made up her mind who she was going to have for her forever Mum and Dad.
After slipping out the gate of her trial home she then went on the run and even though we had various sightings of her, it wasn’t until she decided enough was enough a week later when she finally picked
a random doggy door in a random house and we were contacted to let us know she had been found.
Of course Nick and Kelly had been involved in the search for their little foster girl and when she was returned to us they were there to greet her - and what a welcome they got - she was practically doing cartwheels in excitement - she was beside herself and we all knew instantly she had chosen her new forever family.
Starr is now a senior citizen of 14 years and living the dream with her 11 year old brother Elvis.
18 months ago she was extremely sick and was admitted into the emergency vet hospital with what they initially thought was gastro and was kept there for a week to have various scans and tests. The diagnosis came back that she has Cushings but that isn’t stopping our girl loving life and with her amazing Mum and Dad managing her condition to the letter we’re sure she will be continuing to do so for a long long time to come.

❤️Sending lots of love and positive thoughts and energy to our beautiful Mandy and Mum Fiona. ❤️

Mandy was adopted by our treasurer Fiona when her girl came to us at Noah’s Bark in February 2010 after being picked up as a stray and taken to The Lost Dog’s Home.
She literally went from rags to riches - from a matted dishevelled and neglected little waif to Queen of the household and living a life that royalty would envy 🥰

Mandy became unwell recently and after tests carried out at Southpaws Specialty Surgery for Animals it showed that our little poppet had substantially increased bilirubin levels and her liver levels also elevated. Mandy’s gallbladder like her brother Biff who so sadly recently passed was showing clear signs that all was not well and that surgery to remove her gallbladder was a high possibility.
On the specialist’s advise Mandy is being medically managed for a week at home to try and get her levels down and they will reassess next Tuesday.

As you can imagine it’s a tense time for Fiona and her family who love their little girl to the moon and back so we are sending zillions of hugs to them both.

💔 REST IN PEACE COLIN 💔

It is with the heaviest of hearts we share the devastatingly sad news that Colin took his final journey over the 🌈 bridge on Wednesday.

Colin had an abnormally functioning liver similar to his brother Fergus but also suffered with neurological symptoms which were also related to his liver disease. Over the past few weeks there have been marked differences in his demeanour at times - lack of recognition towards foster Mum Tanya - which could be fleeting but noticeable and other characteristics that Tanya knowing her boy so well would pick up on.
On Monday Colin was extremely flat and didn’t want to play or interact with his foster brother and sister choosing to just cuddle up with Tanya on the couch.
It was difficult to gauge with Colin when he didn’t show much interest in his food because every day was different and that again was because of his condition.
He perked up by Tuesday and was running around playing like his old self in the afternoon giving Cody his foster brother grief.
So it came as a terrible shock when Colin experienced an extremely significant seizure on Wednesday afternoon which was followed by a period of a complete change of temperament, confusion and a fear of everything and everyone around him.
Sadly, heartbreakingly so, we knew that we had to make a decision and we would like to thank Julia from Our Pet Mobile Vet for the care, compassion and support that she provided towards Colin,
Tanya and Tanya’s son Jayden.
Colin slipped peacefully away in Tanya’s arms surrounded by love.
We would like to convey our deepest sympathies to Tanya and thank her from the bottom of our hearts for all the love and care given to Colin.
To lose both of her little boys at such young ages and only months between them can’t be put into words how she is grieving at this time. 💔💔

Colin you will always be in our hearts as will Fergus.
Now you are both reunited - run and play across the 🌈bridge - brothers together again ❤️❤️
